  1. I'd love Drabek as a buy low candidate. I think the Jays mishandled him last year. He's young, the talent's there, and a change of scenery could do him a lot of good. i don't really see how they mishandled him. he pitched well in the upper minors and in his major league cup of coffee in 2010, so he started 2011 with the jays. they gave him enough opportunity in the majors but he sucked balls, so they sent him to las vegas where he continued to suck balls. i think the only really debatable part is whether he should've been called back up for bullpen work in september.
  2. travis snider sucks and has a terrible 'stache.
  3. carlos pena got $10m last offseason. even the people most concerned about fielder's fatness aren't too worried that he'll start declining into .220/.340/.480 territory within 3 years.
  4. it's not really just plate discipline with gose, because he did walk 65 times in 137 games. maybe he's too patient? swinging at the wrong pitches? i haven't seen him play so i don't know what the problem is, but it's not like he's putting up reggie abercrombie K/BB ratios.
  5. wasn't he the guy that hendry liked because he had a lot of rbi with 2 outs or some [expletive] like that?
  6. Lame. Instead we get to read his fluff every year. he doesn't have to grill ricketts angrily, but you can ask those types of questions and still leave the door open for future interviews. i doubt that successful businessman tom ricketts is going to throw a tantrum if he's asked a few pointed questions about the future of the organization.
  7. given illinois' bizarre ability to lose horrendous 36-33 games to psu, maybe only having psu on the schedule once is a good thing.
  8. i think the idea of top 5 draft picks in consecutive years matters less to him than taking on big contracts that might hamper the team financially down the road. the cubs are pretty bereft of major league talent and the goal is to increase the talent throughout the organization without paying big contracts to numerous players.
  9. No way let's all cry and [expletive] our pants because they're on the 40 man roster.
  10. most running backs who are drafted don't make the HOF.
  11. [expletive] the cubs are a basketball team? i've been fooled all these years.
  12. boy this particular poster, who is definitely not a cardinal fan, sure knows and posts a lot about the cardinals.
  13. lol yeah everyone said the cards were going down the toilet without edgar renteria and indispensable larry walker who didn't even play a full season's worth of games in a cardinal uniform.
  14. the chargers fuckin suck. norv turner should be fired.
  15. considering that they're mathematically eliminated, i'd say that they're unlikely to make the playoffs.
  16. guys on steroids don't count; that eliminates most of your list.
  17. What's your address so I can send you a Soriano jersey? this actually made me laugh, wtg WSR.
  18. not even close. neal huntington knows what he's doing.
  19. dan hawkins' colossal failure at colorado gives me some trepidation about peterson. probably not fair, but man hawkins sucked.
  20. if they found a trade partner willing to take a significant portion of soriano's salary, they'd do it without worrying if there was a replacement within the organization.
  21. i was reading the twitter quotes from theo about t. wood's cost-controlled years and torreyes having an advanced contact tool playing as a teenager in full-season ball and thinking "boy jim hendry really wouldn't have said stuff like this" i will also add that hendry never, ever would have made this trade. marshall is a good player and hendry never grasped the concept of selling high or acquiring young, cost-controlled assets for an asset that is very good but about to become expensive.
