  1. ok, well anyone want my pick for their third round pick next year? otherwise i'll probably just draft some guy and release him in 2 days.
  2. i get raisin's third round prospect pick for my second round 2012 pick.
  3. i'm generally not in favor of using spring training stats for deciding the roster, but beliveau wasn't throwing strikes. this has been an issue for him in the past, and if it's cropping up again i'd rather see him down in the minors where he can work it out without as much pressure.
  4. yes, it is very unlikely that the cardinals have a pitcher in the minor leagues who could be as good as roy oswalt would be this year. if so, that pitcher would be in the major leagues pitching every fifth day.
  5. what a tacky piece of [expletive]
  6. i'm trying to trade my pick. i'll take any second round pick in next year's prospect draft for my pick or, failing that, a third round pick next year.
  7. well that is pretty stupid then. Really? You would have a player on your team that will cost you games as long as he was FREE? C'mon! He was worth 2.5 fWAR (in 139IP) last year and 4.7 in 2010 (in 211IP). LAST year. I don't think he will get better with age. He wants a ton of cash and will clog a roster spot for some pitcher with a future. The Reds and Cards love to sign veteran geezers tho'....we will see. that's not really relevant when you said that you wouldn't even take him if he were free. and considering that he was worth 7 wins the last 2 years, you're going out on a pretty shaky limb to say that he'd be a negative win pitcher in 2012.
  8. I've got at least one minor leaguer I'll be dropping, so will need the 3rd round as well... you will also need to use the second round to draft a player other than danny hultzen, since he was picked #2 by jeff. woulda been a hell of a coup to get the second overall draft pick from the rule 4 draft with the 28th pick, though.
  9. i'll be looking through who is available and seeing if any of them are upgrades from my current prospects. all of my guys are top 50 to 75 prospects so i'll be hard pressed to improve. if i don't use my next pick (last pick in the second round) i'd be happy to trade it for a second rounder next year (if anyone has a player they particularly like and are afraid they'd be picked before their turn is up in the third round).
  10. someone definitely has matt harvey, because i traded him this offseason.
  11. Yeah, I can't believe the committee set you up with such an unfair matchup as the MEAC champ that should have been a 16. lol
  12. also out for the year: joakim soria. reds have to be thrilled about the zero innings they'll get for the $8.5 million they invested in madson.
  13. 1. Scioscia's Tragic Illness - Trevor Bauer, Arizona 2. Calvinball - Danny Hultzen, Seattle 3. Harrys Budcrew - Dylan Bundy, Baltimore 4. Mighty D-Block - Bubba Starling, KC 5. Sock it Thome - Gerritt Cole, Pittsburgh 6.Lynx - Anthony Rendon, Washington 7. Kid Rodelo - Archie Bradley, Arizona 8. Theocracy - Francisco Lindor, Cleveland 9. Quakers - Xander Bogaerts, Boston 10. Ron Washington's Dealers - Christian Yelich - Miami 11. NSBB - Javier Baez - Chicago Cubs 12. Quakers (from Tootielicious) - Josh Bell - Pittsburg 13. Calvinball (from GHS) - James Paxton, Seattle 14. Calvinball (from NSBB) - Anthony Gose, Toronto 15. The Eyes of Texas - Taylor Jungmann, Brewers 16. Scioscia's Tragic Illness (from Bazingas) - Jake Marisnick, Toronto
  14. well that is pretty stupid then. Really? You would have a player on your team that will cost you games as long as he was FREE? C'mon! He was worth 2.5 fWAR (in 139IP) last year and 4.7 in 2010 (in 211IP). but his cWAR (clubhouse WAR) was -15 each year.
  15. hey i'm going away for a few days in easter, should i just submit a list to someone so they can draft for me?
  16. we were talking about #1 overall picks recently, and the two who never made the majors (not including active players). i said that matt bush looked like a shoo-in for #3, but his chances looked quite a bit better with a promising K rate at AA. drunkenly running over an old man's head will probably put an end to his hopes.
  17. I believe he's out with a groin injury. so yes to the herpes then.
  18. i pick... oh wait it's still not my turn.
  19. no, he said "overmatched today."
  20. update on dave sappelt in the hitter friendly arizona conditions: .577 OPS, zero home runs.
  21. well that is pretty stupid then.
  22. yeah, just let players earn their eligibility. a starter gets eligibility after one start, so if you're paying attention all you have to do is put him in the RP spot for the night he starts. worst case scenario you lose a relief appearance. same with position players; if hanley ramirez is going to be a 3B you can play a backup there for a few games or just go without points from a 3B for a handful of games.
  23. anyone want to text shane that it's his turn in the prospect draft? i want to go... got a player i like quite a bit and he's still available. :-)
  24. so the next time a leonys martin or xavier nady gets an at bat in september, the person nearest to the computer when he takes that at bat can claim him and then chuck him in the minors? does the player need to appear in a game or can we just grab them when they're called up for expanded rosters?
