  1. just saw a replay of that torres hit on hossa; at full speed it looked extremely obvious that he left his feet. whatever ref was standing right there and missed it should be suspended for the rest of the playoffs; that's an embarrassingly poor job of officiating.
  2. i'm pretty tired of watching soriano play baseball for the cubs. fortunately he's becoming so lousy that it's extremely unlikely he'll remain an everyday player through 2014.
  3. well that can't possibly be true, because he's not even rookie eligible any more, so he wouldn't be evaluated by BA. not to mention that they probably aren't going to rate a guy with a 6 BB/78 K ratio in 226 major league plate appearances as the 60th best prospect in baseball.
  4. starting to feel pessimistic about our world series chances this year.
  5. lol, the average game has what, probably 300 to 350 pitches? so that would mean that the home plate umpire would miss a ball/strike call or play at the plate once every 3 games. this seems rather unlikely.
  6. bad outing for dylan bundy tonight. only 3 K's and issued a walk. his line for the year: 9 ip, 0 h, 0 r, 1 bb, 15 k.
  7. final line for simpson: 2.2 ip, 6 h, 6 er, 4 bb, 0 k, 1 hr, 1 balk, 1 wp. that's 3 k's in 12.2 ip this year. lol
  8. simpson: 2 ip, 2 h, 3 er, 4 bb, 0 k, 1 hr, 1 balk, 1 wp. what an awful pick.
  9. lol at one of the sedin sisters whining to the ref about no penalty called on a shot deflected out of play. since when has that ever been a penalty, loser?
  10. You can usually say the same thing about Kevin Goldstein as well. that's mostly on twitter when fans of teams tweet him excitedly about some marginal prospect who happens to hit .500 for like a week.
  11. well that's certainly worth $2.5 million taxpayer dollars.
  12. he turtled because he had just gotten drilled in the face. when someone is already raining blows down on you, there really isn't time to throw off the gloves and turn it into a fair fight.
  13. disagree. takes quite the magic act to give up only 2 runs (1 earned) with 13 baserunners allowed.
  14. I think Carkner went overboard. Something probably needed to be done, but what he did to Boyle was waaaaaaaay worse than that Boyle did to Karlsson in Game 1. Regardless, I will now be adding this to the list of series I am watching closely. Which I think is now all except NJ-FLA and BOS-WSH. Those two just aren't holding my interest. Yet. The problem with this whole letting players clean up the dirty plays is that it will always escalate. Of course any real old timey fan would probably say that Boyle should have dropped his gloves and not turtled. To me that is why I had no problem them giving Dubinsky a 3rd man in game misconduct. Boyle knew it was coming and deserved if NHL players want to play by "the code of whatever" and he turtled. He should have dropped his gloves, grabbed and held on to Carkner's right arm and moved on. To his credit though his actions did get The Rangers a 5 min PP. If fans and players want to keep this code this is what is going to happen. If not then the NHL needed to suspend Boyle for what he did to Karlsson....which way do you want it? You are absolutely right about Boyle. You have to face the music. Though he sort of didn't get a chance under the circumstances. yeah, he DID face the music. someone challenged him to fight later in the period and he fought the guy. it's not "turtling" if someone checks you when the puck isn't around and you're not looking, immediately throws off his gloves and starts wailing on your face. boyle is a tough guy and is willing to fight under a normal circumstance; carkner is (and has always been) a dumbass who went about it the wrong way. come on, newusername.
  15. Schenn's hit looked like a textbook charge, to me he took no strides and didn't leave his feet until after he made contact, how is that a charge? I thought he did leave his feet. And he came in from quite a distance to run the guy. watch the hit again; his feet are on the ice when he makes contact and then come up after contact is made. he came in from just outside the blue line but didn't accelerate; he took no strides for several feet before hitting the guy. i mean, i guess that can be a penalty, but you pretty much need to make the rule that forecheckers can't hit people any more.
