  1. More like we only got a 25 year old failing prospect for an all-star with a respectable contract? lol all-star
  2. our rivals who we play 6 times a year, are the other league and aren't good. plus humber was a third overall pick, it's not like he didn't have any sort of successful pedigree.
  3. haha my parents live in camden, i'll have to go see a game if they're playing while i'm home in august.
  4. I believe waivers ran on Monday mornings around 1-2am EST. Saturday night is best so people can pick people up and get them in their lineup for the next week. you mean sunday night?
  5. torreyes was 3-3 with 2 doubles, a triple and a walk tonight. it's called 10 games, 40 plate appearances and babip guys. relax.
  6. hr #2 for rizzo. only partial credit since it was on the first pitch.
  7. eagles take dwight bentley, cb from ul-lafayette
  8. why do people talk about golden like he was some huge bonus baby? he got paid $160,000 over his second round slot. every team has guys like that sometimes (except for maybe the white sox).
  9. it's freddy galvis... the guy is pretty much a wasted out. his career minor league ops was .613.
  10. would've been interesting if the first two batters had made outs, but carlos ruiz hit a leadoff double, so obviously lee had to be PH for. btw, last pitcher to pitch more than 10 innings in a game was dave stewart in 1990. another fun fact from tonight, bartolo colon threw 39 strikes in a row between the 5th and 8th innings of the oakland-seattle game.
  11. awesome pitcher's duel between cliff lee and matt cain: lee: 9 ip, 5 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 7 k, 89 pitches/71 strikes (!!!) cain: 9 ip, 2 h, 0 r, 1 bb, 4 k, 91 pitches/64 strikes cain was removed for a pinch hitter in the 9th inning (he was due to lead off the inning). phillies were retired by the giants' reliever in the top of the 10th; lee has come back out for the bottom of the 10th.
  12. this series has been fun (mostly because my team is winning), but i just can't take the flyers seriously. nobody wins the cup giving up bucketloads of scoring chances, backed up by a goalie who's liable to let anything into the net behind him. once you run into a team with a good goalie and strong defense, it's over.
  13. worst goalies/defense ever.
  14. put chris young on the dl, called up jason kipnis from the minors and put him at util (moved an OF from util to OF to replace young)
  15. i can turn them on. when do they usually run?
  16. no, it's just crazy.
  17. ok so basically they're never outright wrong. it's just "open to debate." sure are giving bad umpires a hell of a lot of credit here. there are, relative to their peers, good baseball players and bad baseball players. alex rodriguez gets to play for a really long time, because he's really good. jose macias is lousy, so his career is short. why shouldn't the system be the same for umpires, where good umpires work for 30 years and retire, and the bruce froemmings and cb bucknors of the world lose their jobs after 3 years because they suck?
  18. until dylan bundy gives up a hit, he can be mentioned in his own light. :-)
  19. bollig jumped him shortly after the hit. and got penalized. what would you have them do, try to put doan out of the game? try to hurt torres? the penguins spent all game on sunday trying to toughen up and send a physical message, and the result was 3 power play goals against and 3 players suspended for game 4. maybe they can feel good about standing up for themselves, if you're gonna play that way in the playoffs you might as well call up the local country club and arrange a tee time for next week.
  20. Because they know Shanahan will suspend them for 5 games, and let the Yotes players go untouched. also because it's the playoffs, each game is really important and it's pretty damn stupid to keep running around trying to hurt the other team and putting your team shorthanded.
  21. Shanahan will probably use the fact that Hossa drove himself home to say he's not injured and let him off with a fine. i'll be stunned if there's not a significant suspension. hagelin was suspended for 3 games in part for causing an injury to alfredsson, and it wasn't known at that stage if alfredsson would miss any time besides the rest of that game. hossa already missed most of a playoff game because of the charge. torres has a history of infractions. the replay clearly shows him launching upward, making contact with his feet off the ice, and the head is a primary point of contact. it's a clear suspension. i'm guessing 5 games.
  22. wow what a terrible goal. even michael leighton thinks that's a bad goal. torres might as well go back to the team hotel, pack up and head home to phoenix... no way he should play again in this series.
  23. hopefully he's not mentoring them on plate discipline.
