    matt harvey pitched a beast of a game for the mets - 9 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 12 k. didn't get the win though, because the mets haven't scored.

    he was also the guy who was taken in by the "friends of hamas" thing. on the bright side, he's spent time at breitbart.com and world net daily, so he's at least finding the proper landing places for a bigot/homophobe.

    perfect example of some bigoted idiot letting his mask slip when he writes "it's a choice." aha, now we get it. he bashes the "hero worship" of jason collins but then goes on to retweet something about how the real heroes are the soldiers, police, firefighters, etc. people who get paid to do a job that involves some level of danger. jason collins coming out of the closet can't possibly have a positive impact on his ability to keep playing basketball in the nba, and it may hurt him if teams think it will be a headache in the locker room. kind of makes me laugh that tim brando says that someone doing something that no male professional athlete in basketball, football, baseball or hockey has ever done is not brave or heroic, but meanwhile the millions of people who serve as soldiers, paramedics, police officers, firefighters, etc are true heroes.

    a lot of conservatives gleefully love to point out that prop 8 would have failed in california if blacks hadn't voted at a rate of almost 70% in favor.

    Why hockey? I don't follow the sport so I'm actually curious. more scandinavians and canadians, where gay marriage is not considered nearly as controversial as in the u.s. also don't think that machismo is as great in hockey and baseball as in basketball and football.

    if i'd had to guess which of the four major sports would have an active athlete come out first, i probably would have guessed hockey. pretty sure basketball would've been my last guess, due to the smaller roster size and high numbers of black american athletes.

    if the cubs can somehow get mlb to agree to change the schedule such that every game for the rest of the year is against the marlins, this team has a good shot at the postseason.
