didn't everyone say that vitters' greatest strength is being able to make contact? granted almora should have a big leg up on vitters due to his defense and baserunning, but being able to put pitchers' pitches into play isn't necessarily a positive.
he could be better than soler by on playing premium defense at a more demanding position. if his defense/baserunning/hitting is all plus at the big league level, he'll really only have to develop average power, which most people expect him to have.
i'm thinking pierce johnson shouldn't be too long for kane county. his bb/k ratio is really strong - would guess that he's been pretty unlucky on batted balls without doing the math.
wonder what is going on with austin kearns. he was put on the bereavement list in early may and then was moved to the restricted list. normally you don't miss 2-3 weeks with bereavement.
daniel bard was one of the top young setup men in baseball a couple of years ago. then they tried to make him a starter and he completely fell apart. more walks than innings pitched this year in the minors and they've just him down for a while, apparently just to clear his head.
