  1. I think it might currently be the least interesting team we have in the minors now. their offense is incredibly dull. who's the best prospect? devoss, geiger, radenmacher? yuck. the azl cubs' offense is also pretty useless.
  2. well yeah, now he can buy two more of these!!! http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/1060543/sculp.gif
  3. and some people say soccer is boring!
  4. struck out on a 3-2 pitch in his second at bat. 50% K rate at AA. yikes.
  5. baez will be leading the national league in WAR next year if he follows the machado career path.
  6. nice to beat these pricks... getting old losing to a team we used to flog constantly. hopefully we'll win the series tomorrow.
  7. Why is this always brought up? lol at the 19 year old who has a 33/35 B/KK ratio in high-a who's a lock to stay at short and probably be a plus defender? i think you can remove the "probably"

  9. QUICK SELL HIGH, MAYBE NOBODY WILL CHECK HIS STATS FROM THE PAST 5 YEARS AND ONLY LOOK AT TODAY'S GAME.
  10. Manny Machado has 39 doubles!! holy [expletive]
  11. so far the minor league game thread (with no games having actually started yet) is at 11 posts while this game thread, with the game halfway finished, is at 4 posts.
  12. i suppose it depends on your definition of "mastered," but he's 10th in ops and leading the league in home runs. and he's shown significant improvement in the past couple of months. i don't know that you leave a prospect at a level until he just completely destroys that level for half a year. he certainly seems like he's advanced enough that he won't get to AA and completely fall flat on his face.
  13. i think shawon dunston jr may have more walks as a professional than his dad did. (not really, but he draws walks and his dad definiteliy did not)
  14. triple by almora followed by a home run by the fat man.
  15. well hey, if they can't get under the cap, then just go crazy and sign everybody and take next year off.
  16. luckily there are people who are not as smart as sandy alderson and andrew friedman running baseball teams, and i'm pretty sure there are still some who have no idea wtf a .218 BABIP against means. that's not to say i think there's any chance in hell you get a top 25 prospect for travis wood. yeah you're right that there are still the ned colettis out there, but i think the number of morons running baseball teams is really low. and even if the GM sucks, many (most?) mlb teams now have sabermetrically-inclined departments that would advise not to trade a king's ransom for a pitcher having a fluky good year.
  17. i love the idea that mlb general managers will be too dumb to look at travis wood's statistics and notice that he has a .218 babip. it's a lot easier to "sell high" to some buffoon in your fantasy baseball league than it is to get sandy alderson or andrew friedman to believe that travis wood has suddenly become a #2 starter and surrender top prospects for him.
  18. does hannemann have lyme disease or something? he sat out two games on the 29th and 30th apparently just to have a rest, then played on the 1st and 2nd, and now he's sitting out a second straight game.
  19. So it's not at all a comparable situation? Even better in 1990 before he started winning titles at Duke Coach K was offered the Celtics job and turned it down. Lol indeed. so what? one guy was very happy in his situation and stayed at his university. the other decided to go for a new challenge and go to the nba. you're acting like one was right and one was wrong.
  20. just saw the valbuena hr. boy reddick was inches from making a really incredible catch.
  21. much better plate appearances from starlin lately.
  22. either that or towers hasn't checked gallardo's b-r page in about 4 years.
  23. well, everyone said when he signed that he had huge raw power but everything else was an enormous question mark because he was out of shape and hadn't played much in the past couple of years. that's not really the kind of signing they were adamant about. it's easier for a cashed-up team like the dodgers to chuck 40 or 50 million at a high ceiling guy but also a high bust potential than it is for the cubs to do something like that. especially when they'd just dumped $30m on soler. i mean, if you beat the dodgers offer and end up with soler and puig, you're looking at a decent chance that you've spent $75m and will end up with nothing out of it at the major league level. i can't really fault ownership or the front office for not being comfortable with that.
