  1. vogelbach would probably make sense as a trade piece. obviously he's still a couple of years away, but the a's DH numbers were pretty pedestrian this year and there's nobody in the current lineup who looks like he'll be forced to move to DH in the near future due to age and/or lousy fielding. i don't think they have all that much in terms of power prospects besides michael choice, and he only hit about 15 home runs in 600 minor league plate appearances this year. point is, if vogelbach does pan out as a hitter, there's nobody really blocking him from the DH slot.
  2. tim cahill scores fastest goal in mls history:
  3. yeah i'd go after him pretty hard. he was unlucky this year and judging by fangraphs, he still had good velocity on his fastball. throws a lot of ground balls too.
  4. Congrats, that post was B2B quality. Neely next on the horizon? no kidding. kyle's trolling was only marginally less obvious than cronos.
  5. i'm just shocked to learn that some cardinal fans have attended college.

  7. seems rather generous to include lendy castillo then.
  8. forgetting wes darvill?!? FOR SHAME.
  9. Right now I do, too. If this series ends up a repeat of 2004 I may commit multiple homicide. well then let's all hope we end up seeing you on the news real soon!
  10. devils/sports fans are so dumb. they're booing after goals because they play a song that isn't "rock and roll part 2," because that's been their goal song for like 30 years. problem is, gary glitter is a [expletive] pedophile and he uses proceeds from his most popular song to fund his legal defense and travel to various countries to diddle children. just change the song and learn to love the new one.
  11. i like the guy who says there are more important things, focus on baseball, as if the game six starter is making anti-bullying posts on the cards' official facebook page.
  12. elias' thoughts on game 3. note that he posted nothing about the wins in games 2/4 but went on multiple-post tirades after both series losses. he's like aramis fan in a game thread, except deeply in need of medication. Thoughts on game 5:
  13. http://ultra-zone.net/2014-FIFA-World-Cup-Group-Stage-Draws one of the simulations, i got the US in a group with argentina, russia and italy. DO NOT WANT. in the same draw, one of the groups was switzerland, australia, algeria and bosnia-herzegovina.
  14. bobby scales is the angels' farm director. that seems really weird to me considering that he retired a year ago.

  16. kris byrant has batted three times and reached safely on errors three times. that has to be pretty rare except in little league.
  17. mike trout is 4-6 years away from his prime too. imagine how good he'll be then.
  18. tim wilken's optimism has been vindicated.
  19. chip kelly is now the longest-tenured coach of the four major professional sports teams in philly.
  20. flyers are on pace to lose 82 games and fire 27 coaches this year.
  21. he has to make top 50 if he's near syndergaard, who's probably top 20 at this stage. of course, mlb.com had syndergaard at #12 and didn't even rank edwards in the top 100, which basically means that those rankings should be crumbled up and thrown in the garbage.
  22. some of bill simmons' comments on the terribleness of the jags were pretty funny. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9768340/bottoming-jacksonville
  23. koji uehara's numbers as a reliever (2011-13): 219.1 innings, 128 h, 49 er, 26 bb, 284 k. ERA: 1.93 H/9: 5.3 BB/9: 1.1 K/9: 11.7 K/BB: 10.92
  24. so i guess the flyers still suck.
