  1. Are they real Red Sox fans, or are they like half of "Red Sox Nation" and have been fans since about 9 months ago?
  2. Here's the thing I don't get. Patterson has been so bad this year that he'll likely be overpaid next year. The Reds don't spend all that much money, although their crooked owner has gobs of it. If they want a young outfielder who is major-league ready or at least close to it, why not demand Murton, a guy who hasn't been a complete bust this year? They'd definitely save money trading Dunn, but really wouldn't save as much if they acquired Patterson. Unless their coaches see something they think can be pretty easily fixed, I don't see why the Reds would want him.
  3. He posted on ESPN boards, and his screen name was davemason2k :P
  4. Well he's only at Low A-ball right now... didn't want to overdo it  But seriously, if I were placing him among the Cub prospects I'd put him at #2 behind Pie. That's how highly I think of him and his potential to be an above-average second baseman in the majors. I'm kind of hitching my reputation around NSBB on the kid... hope he comes through for me!
  5. Did you also know that when Steve Kline showed the middle finger last year in front of a TV audience and lots of little kids, it was not directed at Tony LaRussa? In fact, it was directed at Osama bin Laden, whom he spotted in the crowd!
  6. Yes so do I... he'll be in the lineup on days when E-Patt is given a day off.
  7. My turn! 1. Eric Patterson 2. Felix Pie 3. Sean Marshall 4. Ryan Harvey 5. Matt Murton 6. Rich Hill 7. Brian Dopirak 8. Mark Pawelek 9. Gallagher the Watermelon Smasher 10. Reynel Pinto 11. Brandon Sing 12. Ronny Cedeno 13. Angel Guzman 14. Billy Petrick 15. Geo Soto
  8. Another worthless at bat by Neifi... at least if you're going to only get on base 29% of the time, stand there and make the pitcher throw a few. His approach at the plate is horrendous.
  9. But what exactly do you see in his performance that makes you think he'll hit his career average from here on out? He's 2-3 tonight and hasn't cooled off since the beginning of the season. At some point you have to say that this isn't a total fluke and that he's not going to just got back to his career average.
  10. Remember when the talking heads on ESPN were flipping out b/c Griffey didn't have any HRs early in the year, and they were saying his power was all gone? Guess they feel pretty stupid now.
  11. If you right click his sig, there is an option to "block images from {video URL}". Maybe that would work. Thanks for the tip... that made things a whooooooole lot better. No longer do I have to fear for my computer's life when I enter the game threads! :D
  12. Is there a way to change my settings so that I don't view other people's sigs? Anytime I'm in a game thread and Blueheart has more than two posts in a page, his sig grinds my computer almost to a halt.
  13. He doesn't have anything left to prove in the MWL at this point... I'd like to see him in Daytona yesterday, and then at WTenn to start next season.
  14. Bump after a huge game for E-Patt so that I can continue lobbying for him to get promoted to Daytona!
  15. WHOA! That must have been a BLAST! I've never seen a HR to straight-away CF at O'Brien Field (small sample size). Chiefs site has it listed as 400 ft to dead CF, and Nathan mentions in his Q&A above: Hey, but the some scouts said he has very little power. Since the scouts said it, it must be true, right?
  16. One important note on Peavy that can't be ignored... Home ERA, 2002-2005: 2.84 Away ERA, 2002-2005: 4.18 His splits have evened out a bit since 2003, but it still must be said that he pitches half his games in an extreme pitchers' park, so you have to weight the stats of other guys accordingly. He gave up the third most HRs in all of baseball in 2003, and then last year upon moving to Petco he cut his HRs allowed in half, giving up only 4 HRs at home last year. He's a guy with a pretty neutral GB/FB ratio, and the move to Petco was very beneficial.
  17. 6 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 10 K for Gallagher. Love the strikeout rate.
  18. Hey, is Don Baylor managing the Cubs again?
  19. Projecting Dunn's stats tonight out for an entire season, he'd be 0-640 with 320 K's. Why do people want this guy so badly?
  20. I remember that kid in Teen Wolf was better during a full moon. I seem to recall Corey Patterson being very up and down from month to month throughout his career. Corey Patterson = werewolf?
  21. Mixed results from Gallagher so far... the 6 hits and 3 earned runs in 4 innings are not very good, but the 0 BB/7 K ratio is excellent.
  22. This one makes number 9 !! Both of you two ended your strings of quality posts right here!
  23. You people better not have jinxed him by talking about the 9th quality start in a row!
  24. Well predictably, the Chefs overcame that deficit and then some. They scored 6 runs in the second innings, thanks in large part to 6 walks by Joe Torres, who I've written about before in minor league discussions. Former #1 prospect of the Angels who has completely lost it. This is his stat line on the season after tonight... this literally may be the worst season I've ever seen from a professional pitcher: 1-8 (1-9 if he loses tonight), 18 G, 13 GS 43.2 IP, 61 H, 67 ER, 75 BB, 29 K... 13.81 ERA, 3.11 WHIP I feel bad for the guy at this point. It's pretty obvious he doesn't have it any more, and considering he's pitched only 43 innings and has started 13 games, the team practically has to have a second starter ready when he pitches.
