  1. I tend to doubt it, with them well behind the Twins and Orioles for the WC, and still behind the Yankees, who are too talented not to have a better second half of the season.
  2. Boy aside from the clutch 2-out hitting in the late innings, that loss could not have been more Cub-like.
  3. I can tell you right now, we are nto a playoff team. Not with this offense. Peoplle are starting to see it the way I've been seeing it since the beginning of the year... not enough on-base ability on this club to have any sort of consistently productive offense.
  4. Eric Patterson fans thank you... we will be listening in!
  5. Nats: 6 baserunners, 4 runs Cubs: 10 baserunners, 2 runs One team has been very good at scoring when it's gotten the chance, one team has been bad at it. Not hard to see that's the difference in the ballgame. (OK going out for real now - good game by Jerome, just gave up some hits at the wrong times)
  6. ](*,) This is frustrating... I'm going out to eat. Hope D-Lee gets his cycle.
  7. This should at the very least be a one run ballgame. To not score a runner last inning is flat-out unacceptable. The Nats have gotten guys in from second with 2 outs; the Cubs couldn't get a guy in from third with one out.
  8. That's it, remove Burnitz from the game immediately. Walks are not allowed on this club.
  9. That half inning is Exhibit #8361 for why the Cubs are going nowhere fast this season.
  10. Obviously he did his research on how to pitch the Cubs...
  11. Really? I sure don't. After the issues last season, Guillen was exactly what we didn't need. He is a malcontent. Being in So Cal, I was able to hear and see it. There is a reason why he has played on 4 teams in 3 years. Yeah, he's a malcontent, and their first baseman beats up his wife... yet they're in first place. The Cubs have a bunch of nice guys and are on the road to nowhere... give me a team of guys who hate each other but are good baseball players, and I'll give you a winner.
  12. I think what you meant to say was "how are the Expos doing so well"
  13. hahaha, I'm in second place and I couldn't even make it for the live draft :P
  14. OK, as long as it's not one of those horrible Anheuser-Busch products. Let's all agree on a Yuengling.... mmm, delicious...
  15. Care to back up your position with any statistics?
  16. It's 3 starts he'll miss b/c the Rangers can push what MLB intends to make start # 4 back on game. He also got fined 50K BTW I hope that's on top of the salary he loses while suspended. No way a guy deserves to get paid his salary when he hurts the team by acting like a bonehead and beating up a cameraman. didn't look like he 'beat up' the cameraman to me... he should maybe have to buy him a new camera and say im sorry and that should be the end of it as far as i can see. Why does everyone especially the media want to make such a big deal out of this??? Just because they can??? It really didn't look that bad to me... 2-3 missed starts is if anything a little on the harsh end i guess. Are you kidding? What kind of precedent would that set if he missed one or two starts? A lot of the Cubs didn't like Steve Stone last year; I'm sure a few of them would have been happy to go shove him around a little if they knew they'd only miss a game or two. As for MLB's suspensions being paid, that is a complete joke. Guys can act like morons on and off the field and not worry about losing any green. I don't feel like going to work tonight, maybe if I find a dude with a camera and beat him up tonight I can skip out on work and get paid for it. What a scam.
  17. Yet all the non-team-dependent statistics say otherwise... :-k Serious question. Factoring out all team dependent stats, who is the best starter in the NL? To me, it's pretty clearly Roger Clemens - only 6-3 due to atrocious run support, but 1.50 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and about 1 K per inning. He also pitches half his games in an extreme hitters' park. Second is Dontrelle Willis... 12-3, 2.04 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 7 K/9. I'd take Roy Oswalt after that: 10-7, 2.54 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, strikeouts down at just over 6 per 9 innings, but it's hard to argue with that ERA pitching in the Juice Box. Then I'd say Carpenter and then Pedro Martinez, who should actually have a much better ERA than he does considering his absurdly low WHIP.

  20. Gee, wish the Cubs could sign some nobody coming off arm surgery and then have him turn into a Cy Young contender. :x
  21. Boo hoo, 3 or 4 starts? That's really not that bad. I guess the point is to punish him by taking away 1/8 of his salary, though.
  22. If that happened more than once a week, I'd be impressed :x
  23. A Cardinal fan calling Cub fans the best in baseball... first time for everything!
  24. Does that involve watching Tom Emanski's Instuctional videos?
  25. Wow he's even less deserving than Carlos Beltran! Cardinal fans should be up in arms about the selection of Scott Rolen to start in the all-star game.
