Yet all the non-team-dependent statistics say otherwise... :-k Serious question. Factoring out all team dependent stats, who is the best starter in the NL? To me, it's pretty clearly Roger Clemens - only 6-3 due to atrocious run support, but 1.50 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and about 1 K per inning. He also pitches half his games in an extreme hitters' park. Second is Dontrelle Willis... 12-3, 2.04 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 7 K/9. I'd take Roy Oswalt after that: 10-7, 2.54 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, strikeouts down at just over 6 per 9 innings, but it's hard to argue with that ERA pitching in the Juice Box. Then I'd say Carpenter and then Pedro Martinez, who should actually have a much better ERA than he does considering his absurdly low WHIP.
