  1. Yes it's reviewable, but delroy is wrong. I watched that play carefully, and at no point did any part of the guy who recovered Harrison's fumble go out of bounds. There was no illegal touching, and the proper call was made.
  2. I have no idea. nor do I. Go drink beer and enjoy this one. That's a foregone conclusion. Beer is ready to go. Penn State has proved that for the first time in years they have depth, which should be enough to overcome Derrick Williams' injury. The game is at home, so It really ought to be a blow out. 8-1 wouldn't be too bad going into the "Big 10 championship game" vs. Wisconsin in 2 weeks. I predict that if PSU manages to beat Purdont and Wisconsin, there will be a ton of Nittany Lion fans in East Lansing for the season finale on November 19.
  3. Don't forget the first half of the Michigan-Iowa game, which featured some of the most atrocious referee work I've seen in the Big 10 since the Michigan-Illinois game in 2000 - and that's saying a lot. Michigan got 2 pass interference calls, one where the ball was uncatchable and well past the receiver when the hit was made.... there was another horrendous one as well. There were also two Michigan fumbles where the runner was ruled down, one of those fumbles coming deep in their own territory where a correct ruling very likely would have led to points for Iowa. There was also a bizarre ruling of receiver interference when the Iowa punt coverage guy was really not all that close to the receiver who fumbled the ball. Also, the Iowa AD said that he and Kirk Ferentz would be speaking with the Big 10 about the officiating in the game: Looks like Penn State fans aren't the only ones "whining" about the refs after a tight loss to Michigan...[/url]
  4. Bend over, Illinois
  5. Try the ESPN boards, there are hardly any trolls on there.
  6. I don't hate Cardinal fans, I just hate the Cardinal organization. And the whole city of St. Louis sucks in general too, I guess.
  7. Batman, because Kirsten Dunst really isn't very attractive at all.
  8. Put it this way, was Ozzie Smith a great hitter? Obviously not. He made the HOF because of defense and backflips, but also his offense was at least acceptible for a SS. If you moved him to first base, would he have been a hall of famer? Hell no, he wouldn't have even been on the field most of the time because the offense he provided would not have been enough to justify him playing every day.
  9. I think he was just in a foul mood because he isn't a big fan of going to the gym.
  10. More than Marquis' bad season is the fact that Walt doesn't do FA's. He doesn't like to commit to big fa contracts. Marquis will be dealt for an Of'er. If the Cards don't want Marquis for the price that he'll command this year, what makes you think that another team will, and that they'll be willing to give up something of value for him?
  11. It is more interesting. I do have to get over the whole thing of wondering why the hell the goalie played so badly when the team gives up 3 or 4 goals now... hopefully in the new NHL, 3-4 goals a game will be the average. Get rid of the GAA in the low twos or even high ones that we saw in the NHL just before the lockout.
  12. We know how it feels to have your hopes and dreams crushed by a team you love... don't need to pile on when you're already feeling down. Plus I root for the Eagles and Flyers, so I've endured enough kicks in the nads to know not to mess with people who are disappointed enough. By the way, ha ha you lost :P
  13. Better statistics could have something to do with it...
  14. Better defense, and provides more value offensively over the average SS/3B than Pujols does over the average 1B.
  15. You really think there's going to be a sweepstakes for Sosa's services?
  16. Grrrr, another misplaced apostrophe They will target either: (a) guys I want the Cubs to sign, or (b) mediocre veterans who will subsequently become very good
  17. I agree, although I never thought that the Cards wouldn't win the World Series. I have also started pretending that the baseball season is over already.
  18. And yet I have pointed to specific examples of bad calls that went far to change the outcome of a game... aside from this year's Michigan game, we have: -2002 against Iowa, where the Iowa receiver was out of bounds.... if the correct call had been made, Iowa would have had 3rd and 15 instead of 3rd and 1. I'd say there is a huge difference there. After that play, Iowa didn't have far to go to score a TD in overtime. Then, a sideline catch by a Penn State receiver was incorrectly ruled out of bounds. -2002 against Michigan... Tony Johnson gets two feet in bounds but is ruled out; catch would have put Penn State in field goal range with under a minute left in regulation -2003 against Ohio $tate - third down pass to TE Hartsock is clearly dropped and then fallen on, but it's ruled complete, so the drive continues, rather than punting the ball back to PSU. O$U's goes on to score the game-winning TD. You can pooh-pooh these all you want, but they aren't just nickel and dime calls, or beefs about phantom holding. I generally won't complain about referee work unless it plays a real role in deciding the outcome of a game, and those examples above all fit that bill.
  19. Indeed you are very lucky -Eagles just about every year, especially the two home playoff losses in the NFC championship game -Flyers in 2000 blowing a 3-1 series lead against the Devils -Flyers in 2004 losing to Tampa in Game 7 -Flyers getting blown out by Buffalo in a game 7 -Cubs in 2003 -Cubs in 2004, I was at the Mets game where the collapse began -Holy Cross against Kentucky and then Marquette -PSU against Iowa and Michigan in '02 ([expletive] refs) -PSU against Michigan in '05 (see above)
  20. The title of this thread fills me with rage :axe:
  21. I was thinking the exact same thing...
  22. Whatever, he just got lucky that there is a short porch in LF.
  23. I'm a little late, but this website is hilarious: http://www.fireedwade.com
  24. Well I chose yes, but not because of the reasons you listed. The Flyers are probably my favorite team in all of sports, and I love watching hockey. There was no question that whenever they came back, I'd still be a fan.
