Ugh... I'm watching Mets-Astros and Meatloaf is now in the booth with Buck and McCarver... with Buck and Meatloaf now singing together. Hello mute butoon
Yeah, but I think a lot of the time, once the pitcher looks you back, you figure the Cubs are going for the double play and won't notice the runner breaking for the plate.
Greenwell actually had a decent career until he decided to be a race car driver. The guy finished at .303/.368/.463. Green monster-aided he might have been, but the guy was no bust. I have quite a few Mike Harkeys and Ty Griffins amongst my old time collection (currently residing in my dad's attic); but for colossal busts, I don't don't think you get much bigger than Shawn Abner. ah, very nice one there. Brien Taylor.
Yeah, I remember when the Phillies called him up, everyone was so excited about him. Career OBP under .300. Also for the Phillies during the same era, Ricky Jordan. 77 walks in 677 career games.
Of course Gonzalez won't have his option picked up for next year... his OPS is under 800, he's 38 years and he'll cost $10 million. Meanwhile, there's a major-league ready replacement for him at a cheap cost. Quentin very well could outproduce Gonzo next season.
I was looking through old baseball cards today, and laughing about some of the Donruss "Rated Rookies" or the Topps Rookie All-Stars. Guys who were really big-time prospects but who were duds in the big-leagues. I guess we can include people like Todd van Poppel, who had long (though mediocre) career, but was supposed to be the next Clemens. The rules - give one and then let someone else take a turn. I'll start. Kevin Maas
CCR is probably in my top 5 favorite bands and I'd have voted for them over a lot of others that had matchups in the second round, but unfortunately for them, the Doors are probably my favorite band, period.
