I still have no idea why the Mets traded for him though... why try to fill a void in the rotation with a guy who sucks? They still have that same hole there, and it's there because El Duque is old and washed up. It's like the Yankees signing Fatney Ponson last week.

    Typical Cubs - suck when it matters, then when they should be getting a better draft pick and ensuring that their terrible manager gets fired, they turn it around.

    I'd argue that McCarver is borderline, because his peak years were in the '60s, when offense was hard to come by. His OPS+ in the 60s was over 100, which is good for a catcher. As for Schalk, you're right - he doesn't belong on the list. Then again, he doesn't belong in the HOF either.
