  1. That's a better catch by that fan than Moises Alou made in his entire time in a Cub uniform
  2. Way to cut from hot girls in the crowd to fat guys eating pizza. Boo FSN Pittsburgh.
  3. He came from the Iowa Cubs... the last time, the Iowa Cubs' Rich Hill just forgot to show up.
  4. There's that great Izturis defense again that's going to compensate for his terrible offense
  5. Boy, giveaways don't get any better than that!!!
  6. The sad part is that Hendry and Baker would just scoff at these numbers, if someone like Bruce ever presented them during a press conference.
  7. I think Iowa will be fine. IMO, Ferentz is the best coach in college football. He'll get a lot out of what he has there, even if it is supposed to be a down year for the Hawkeyes.
  8. So, for Greg Maddux and $12 million or so over the next three years, we get a guy who is learning how to hit AND field? Kill me now. He's an excellent fielder... one error doesn't change that. But, his hitting sucks.
  9. It doesn't matter, whoever wins this one is going to get destroyed in the next round.
  10. Uh huh. How many D1 teams would love Lloyds career record. He is among the winningest active football coaches in NCAA Division I-A, has won five Big Ten titles, and brought Michigan its first national championship in 49 years. He has led the Wolverines to five Top Ten finishes in the last nine seasons. The Wolverines have played in three Rose Bowl game and one Orange Bowl game under his leadership. Say what you want about last year, but over his career he is a model of consitancy and almost every AD in the nation would love to have their football program 'underachieve' so much. ND ranked #1 or #3 whats the difference. They are going to lose to Michigan in the 3rd week of the year anyway. 8) I'm rooting for stadium collapse as the outcome of that game.
  11. Don't the Cards have some loser in the minors who could at least post an ERA in the 5-6 range? That'd still be better than Weaver.
  12. I'd say Dunn has a decent shot at the all-time K record. He's productive enough where he should be in lineups for a long time, and to this point in his career he has been very healthy.
  13. Friday morning around 8ish EDT Let me add that it is 12:09 Eastern right nw, and Queen is up 38-35. by Friday I clearly meant Saturday. Apparently Pink Floyd is playing the role of the Daley political machine in this poll. Are you out there looking for dead people to vote for Pink Floyd, Derwood?
  14. I'm playing MVP 2005, and I clicked on an e-mail in my "inbox" that had the subject "Blockbuster Trade." Below that, it read: :-s
  15. Has anyone informed Jim that the Reds are last in the NL in BA with RISP ? Somehow, they are leading the Wild Card. And that Boston team, they are 13th in the AL in BA with RISP. Bruce, could you mention this stat at some point to Baker or Hendry ? You couldn't fit any curve in the world to batting with RISP. I will mention it to Jim and his people as I've done in a million different discussions. There are scant few of us here in the media who see the whole idea of the importance of OBP, SLG and their result: OPS. (A TV guy asked the OBP questions yesterday, and good for him). The Cubs must outslug their opponents at this ballpark. Maybe they don't want to listen to some writer and his stat-geek friends. LOL. Bruce says this jokingly, but it's become very common for the old guard within baseball to look down their noses and sneer at people like him who are more stats-oriented and place a greater emphasis on things like OBP. It's the old "you've never played the game at this level so what do you really know?" defense.
  16. Carlos Lee has been "the man" in Milwaukee since he got there. This is the 1st time in his career Soriano has been the best player on his team. See that is my point though. He was in a low pressure situation in Milwaukee. I want someone who knows what the pressure is like to play in a Chicago, Boston, or New York. Yeah, Carlos Lee knows nothing about playing in Chicago. hahahaha
  17. I could list about 50 Beatles songs that don't really "rock," but "Yesterday" is the most commonly known one.
  18. Well good luck guys, it was fun while it lasted
