  2. candelario made his 5th error early in his 7th game. :(
  3. nice to still be ahead in a game where the pitchers have allowed 5 home runs.
  4. castro hitting the ball hard, rizzo hitting, olt home run, lake home run? http://i.imgur.com/vwMin.gif
  5. small sample size, but right now he strikes out too much for someone without a whole lot of power. aaaaand he's gonna turn 23 in a few weeks. i don't care about that. he missed two years because of his mission, so he's only played one year of college ball. really, playing full season minor league with just one year of post-high school ball under his belt is quite reasonable. most college draftees have played three years of college baseball plus short-season in their draft year before moving up to Low-A.
  6. FFS alvarez barely has a .600 career ops against LHP. throw strikes you knob.

  8. happy with the 5k/0bb from tseng in 5 ip. not going to worry about him giving a bunch of singles.

  10. Top 100 guy going into next year? Wasn't he fringe on a list or two already? yeah, we had 7 on most top 100 lists and candelario was in the 8-10 range, so if he has a solid year and continues to show some growth in his power (8 of his 11 home runs last year were in the last 2 months of the season, i'd expect him to move up the cubs' top 10 and make a lot of top 100 lists.
  11. Perhaps they were surprised that he didn't whiff on the bunt completely. http://usatthebiglead.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/jonathan-villar-drops-bat-on-bunt-against-darvish-a.gif

  13. what's the earliest in the season that a pitcher was demoted from the closer role?
  14. man this guy wasn't this [expletive] bad the last few years.
  15. veras has a great curve, if it actually goes where he is aiming it, something which seems to happen quite rarely.
  16. lars anderson is on iowa? must have missed that news.
  17. yup 3 good innings for hendricks followed by a 4th inning implosion.
  18. smokies are being mowed down by reds' prospect robert stephenson. 8 K's in 3 ip.
  19. if there was nobody on base and only the 5th inning, it makes more sense to just let the pitcher hit rather than burning a position player in a tie game when the odds of scoring a run in that inning are low.
  20. hmm maybe it's best to not throw dirt on a player after he strikes out in his first at bat of the season?
  21. is latos that much of a knob that he'd intentionally throw at a minor leaguer who hit a home run off him? i am dubious.
  22. that box score doesn't seem to be updating on MiLB.com, which is annoying.
