  1. Boy, how bad is Arizona State then? They lost at home to Oregon St.
  2. sounds like a great game
  3. The UCLA basketball game isn't helping me forget about the football game either. Nor is the Scrubs marathon on Comedy Central. That's what I've been watching since the HC game got ugly. Can blow through an episode in about 20 minutes with DVR.
  4. You aren't at the game? What sort of fan are you. Between working last night and tonight, plus the seven hour commute each way to Worcester, I don't think it would've worked out to be in attendance. Plus the game wasn't even competitive... HC was up 17 at the half and 18 right now, though it was 27 at one point before the scrubs went in.
  5. I'm listening to Holy Cross-Lafayette... who's with me???
  6. boy, they really were right on about soriano & howard. they even managed a dig at the 2006 AL MVP. what a great judge of talent they are. hopefully they'll put a few cubs on the 2007 list when it comes out. the rationale for howard was just awful... this cracks me up though:
  7. Okay, then what do you do with Morneau and Mauer? Maybe let one walk if you've got an adequate replacement. I'm just sayin, it's not exactly easy to replace a lights-out pitcher who is a true anchor and stopper. It's not easy to replace the best catcher in the game either. Pitchers have more volatile careers, Santana will be more expensive, Santana will be older, and the Twins have better pitching prospects than hitting prospects at this point. Yeah, the bottom line is that it sucks to have to let any one of those guys go. They're really good, young and make up a fantastic nucleus to a team. Wish the Twins had a market that could reward them for their fine job in scouting and developing players.
  8. I'm curious what the Wisconsin stats look like (Packers) and what the southern states look like (Saints). Wisconsin: 67/34 (some rounding issues there) colts Louisiana and Mississippi are both about 80/20 colts Looks like there's bitter Saints face too

  10. espn.com poll... who will win the super bowl? 39% - Colts win a close game 29% - Bears win a close game 25% - Colts win a blowout 7% - Bears win a blowout 64% say Colts win, 36% say Bears win. Amusingly, the three other states where a majority of people picked the Bears are Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine. Bitter Patriots face.
  11. I thought the Colts won the AFC :-k Might as well be "The Bears .v. the World, since EVERYBODY---outside of Chicago and the fanbase of the Bears---has given the Bears NO SHOT at beting the Colts. Except for the 2 of 6 people on CBS sportsline, the guy on espn.com, Mike Greenberg, 3 of the 4 people on Cold Pizza... yup you got it, nobody thinks the Bears are gonna win.
  12. By the way, here is a list of Most Overrated Players before the 2006 season. I especially enjoy the inclusion of the NL MVP.
  13. Most overrated: Tyler Colvin. Wow, a .313 OBP in rookie ball after 3 years of top-level D-One competition? Color me unimpressed. He was not that great his frosh or soph years, so really all he has is one really strong college season. I'd like to see more out of a college guy drafted in the top half of round one.
  14. early candidate for worst post of the year
  15. Can you imagine the package of players (or prospects) you could get for Santana? That's why I'd trade him sometime next off-season or during the 08 season. His return will be amazing. He does have a NTC, though...so that hurts the chance he gets traded. He's still third on the list behind both Mauer and Morneau in terms of getting the player locked up. I don't know how you trade a guy like that, though. He's durable, very consistent, fairly young, and is the best pitcher in baseball, hands down. Trading him would be the equivalent of the Dodgers trading Koufax in his prime.
  16. I thought the Colts won the AFC :-k
  17. I really like the base the Twins have now, but it's gonna be nearly impossible for them to wrap up Santana, Mauer and Morneau to long-term deals. And how do you decide who to let walk? They're all franchise-type players.
  18. The New Jersey Devils just have a parade around their parking lot if they win a Stanley Cup. I'm not kidding.

  22. sweet, i'll get to make 2 picks then... we've been waiting since tuesday, i'm in serious withdrawal
  23. okay you don't need to PM me, i'm ready and waiting to pick
  24. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) Yeah, strange that Prior isn't guaranteed a spot, but not strange that a guy who had an ERA under 3.00 and a WHIP barely over 1.00 after the all-star break is not guaranteed a spot.
  25. Apples to oranges. Myers had at least one or two years left before he hit UFA.
