  1. so basically nothing interesting happened, and we're still rooting for a boring team with no chance of doing anything. oh well, i still have my twins.
  2. doesn't matter, regardless of how badly the brewers suck, the cubs suck worse
  3. the good news - every loss is a step closer to the end of the jim hendry era
  4. i would also like to metion that this team sucks
  5. On top of that, he didn't even pull anything! He'll do that after the game in the shower with some of his "special" teammates. Jeff.... those comments really aren't welcome here. most of jeff's comments aren't welcome here
  6. well len and bob say that soriano was jacking homers onto waveland during BP... good too see he can still hit them when it doesn't count
  7. lol, this was predictable... now watch all the cub hitters try to jack sinkers out to left
  8. cubs have one of the biggest fly ball pitchers in the game, and will be facing an extreme ground ball pitcher. sounds like we're boned. damn you truffle whatever, we were going to lose whether i said it or not
  9. cubs have one of the biggest fly ball pitchers in the game, and will be facing an extreme ground ball pitcher. sounds like we're boned.
  10. maybe barrett is just dinged up
  11. well, that would accomplish the goal of having a leadoff hitter who doesn't get on base enough
  12. there's a new idea. Maybe it will catch on with the Cubs in 20 years.
  13. at shortstop, theriot is not a good fielder, and his bat - though it had been good with the big club - is pretty marginal. I don't like penciling him in at that position. Ideally that's a hole that the Cubs fill via free agency, though Carlos Guillen has been locked up by the Tigers, and there aren't really any other good SS in the market next year.
  14. I don't think it's going to do a thing, which is what I've been saying at our map discussions each of the past three nights. Dry out Detroit, dry out Chicago... it's a broken record. oh yeah, swept by a team with a $30M payroll. Another proud moment for the Chicago Cubs.
  15. Many of the Hendry-haters would have acquired Abreu, Drew, Lugo, Zito, and B.J. Ryan and still think the GM's job is easy. As a GM, you have to pay inflated market value or else you are accused of not making any moves. actually a lot of people liked Jason Schmidt. Whoops.
  16. 305/378/505/883. No doubt playing a little over his head right now, but couldn't he be as good if not better than Blanco? Come on.
  17. SS Theriot CF Felix Pie 1B Derrek Lee 3B Aramis Ramirez LF Matt Murton 2B Eric Patterson RF Josh Kroeger C Geovany Soto hmmmmm...I like...... You're gonna have Soriano. And Kroeger is a bum. Hill over Soto, even though that's still pretty lousy. Hill over Soto? Hill is about 3 or 4 years older and has already had a couple of cracks at the majors. Soto has a little better patience and (if I remember correctly) a better glove.
  18. If you believe PECOTA, he was ready this year. His 2007 PECOTA was 293/358/497 (855 OPS) with a .280 EqA, and they have him putting up similar numbers for the next five years. It also had him tied with Daisuke among 2007 rookies for highest VORP.
  19. underpaid? If you meant to write that then I agree, simply because the underpaid players will all be really good young players who haven't reached arbitration yet. For example: 1b: Ryan Howard ($0.9M) 2b: Kelly Johnson ($0.38M) 3b: David Wright ($1M) SS: Hanley Ramirez ($0.402M) C: Russell Martin ($0.3875M) OF: Brad Hawpe ($0.403M) OF: Grady Sizemore ($0.75M) OF: Curtis Granderson ($0.41M) SP: Chad Gaudin ($0.4M) SP: Chris Young ($0.75M) SP: Cole Hamels ($0.4M) SP: Rich Hill ($0.4M) SP: Felix Hernandez ($0.42M) RP: Takashi Saito ($1M) hey look my team is awesome and makes less than a million each! why don't the cubs build a team like this!!!!11one!!1
  20. hey, at least we didn't sign jd drew
  21. lol, thought you would appreciate that. like shooting fish in a barrell. you're showing a fine understanding of what moneyball was all about
  22. and the new GM of the Chicago Cubs
  23. can't he go in for izturis and bat 9th, while the pitcher goes into the 2 hole?
