  2. billy hamilton against the cubs: 10 walks in 18 games billy hamilton against the rest of baseball: 23 walks in 127 games memo to cubs: stop walking him. he is a lousy hitter.
  3. given that athletes in various sports have actually suffered heart attacks on the field of play and either died or required urgent medical attention, i don't even think you should be allowed to do what that guy did.
  4. who says szczur has no power? suck on that keith law!!!
  5. http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2014/9/11/6138877/could-the-cubs-be-leaving-daytona lynchburg had the worst attendance in the carolina league this year. the carolina mudcats and myrtle beach were among the lower half, but not as bad as lynchburg. the mudcats have been an indians affiliate since 1987, while the other two (myrtle beach and lynchburg) have only been affiliated with the braves and rangers since 2011.
  6. leaving boise seems a bit odd, since it's a decent-sized city and the hawks seem to have good support. plus the cubs have been in boise for a while. but isn't the ballpark a bit of a dump? as for leaving daytona, sounds good to me. even most other FSL destinations seem like better options.
  7. thankfully most of the bullpen collapses over the past week have been by players who aren't going to be on next year's team.
  8. He looks like Wayne Arnold from The Wonder Years. hahahaha yes

  10. coming soon to a 2015 baseball america prospect handbook cover near you.
  11. Gameday was really not impressed by strike two to Soler.
  12. This front office actually has a few really good acquisitions for nothing more than a dump in a box. See: Valbuena, Luis.

  14. You're literally terrified Theo is going to build a completely home grown lineup. As for the clutching pearls comment I assume is directed at me-Im perfectly fine trading prospects. But trading top 5-10 in baseball prospects? [expletive] no. We can trade from Almora on down and do very well there. Depends what you are hoping to get back. We did just trade for a top 5-10 prospect. That deal can essentially be broken down as Samardzija for Russell and McKinney/Straily for Hammel. So we got a top 5-10 prospect for a season and a half of a solid #2 starter making less than market value. The Cubs can try to deal starting with the likes of Almora and Pierce Johnson and Vogelbach, but to get impact players they're going to have to offer up more than that.
  15. Thank God that Baez and Alcantara and Soler are up. A Cub lineup without Rizzo and Castro earlier in the season would have been completely unwatchable.
  16. I am eagerly looking forward to forgetting that someone named Chris Valaika ever played for the Cubs.
  17. This is where I am. Anyway, to each his own. And F the cardinals.
  18. to go someplace you've never been? I'm from the Philly area, and I can come up with at least 20 places off the top of my head that I would visit with kids before St Louis. Mainly because of proximity (like the Jersey shore or Hershey Park), but some (I.e. Disney world) are just obviously more interesting to kids. I guess it's better than Cleveland, though.
  19. I also don't see why St Louis is some sort of Mecca for people with kids. Sure, if I lived in Peoria or Springfield I'd load the kids in the car and go there, but I don't understand why someone from Toronto or New York or anywhere outside the Midwest would go out of their way to visit St Louis with the fam.
  20. Spoken like true Australian hipster with no kids. Or, a person with taste.
  21. I'm currently in Hawai'i and was on a tour of the volcanoes in the Big Island. This girl from St Louis was talking to a young married couple from Toronto about all the awesome reasons to visit St Louis, like a lot of the museums are free and sometimes a good band is in town. The two from Toronto sounded genuinely interested in visiting. I didn't have the heart to warn them. As someone who lives here, there really is a lot of cool stuff to do, especially if it's a family vacation. I'm sorry, if you have only 2 or 3 weeks vacation a year and you use some of it to go to SAINT LOUIS, you have failed miserably.

  24. Unfortunately, walking Coghlan to face Baez is absolutely the right move at this stage.
  25. For [expletive]'s sakes enough with the two out hits
