  1. I would add "what does this mean for Harriston??" I like the direction JH JR. is going - but PIERRE! Come on -- how could you say no to him if he's available??? Because he sucks. He has no power, no arm, not a great base stealer, and doesn't walk much.
  2. Cubs will have plenty of money to keep Dunn around if they were to get him.
  3. By system, I think he meant farm system.
  4. I think he's on par with Rich Hill He's better than Hill.
  5. I thought the first part was even dumber. Baker got Burnitz as Sosa's replacement? That's funny. I thought Hendry did that.
  6. He's an injury waiting to happen and I don't see him as a long term solution either. If we're going to deal with the Mets, Hendry should look into getting Diaz.
  7. I can't say how realistic it is that he'll be dealt to the Cubs because I just don't know. I can say that the Cubs are very interested, and that the Reds do acknowledge that trading Dunn is their best option for bringing back a boatload of young pitching talent with high potential. I still feel that if the LA Dodgers gave the Reds some of their AA players, the Reds would be most inclined to trade Dunn there. But that leaves the question will Dunn put them back in the race. With all their injuries and pitching woes the Dodgers would improve with Dunn but not enough to get back in the race. Why would it matter if it puts them back in the race? Dunn could help them win now and in the future.
  8. As soon as they show it on ESPN, he gives up a hit.
  9. Only because those games against the Pirates came earlier in the season when Neifi was hot against everyone.
  10. Dunn might not walk as much if he had Aram or Lee hitting behind him, but he'd see better pitches so his BA would probably rise. I think his OBP would stay about the same.
  11. I wouldn't bat Dunn leadoff simply because his production is wasted there. Nothing to really do with his speed. He's not as slow as most think he is actually.
  12. Umm, didn't Burke go to college? Corey didn't and he was brought up early. Burke spent one year in A, two in AA, and one in AAA. So I don't see your point. With that logic, you could say Todd Helton sucked at about the same age because he didn't prove anything at the major league level. If you took two different lineups, one with Dunn and one with Podsednik, the one with Dunn would score more runs over the course of a season. Dunn=more runs.
  13. Having Dunn in the lineup would create more runs than any leadoff hitter in baseball. A guy like Podsednik or Pierre is not more valuable than Dunn. Hairtston is doing fine right now anyway. I wouldn't change the top of the order right now.
  14. Wow, where do I begin? Burke has 187 ML ABs. I think it's a bit too early to say that he hasn't done crap. Biggio is playing his position right now. Corey had over 2000 ABs to prove himself. How can anyone even compare the two? And nobody here is griping about Dunn's Ks when the guy walks 100 times a year and hits 40 HRs. Also, everyone talks about trading Wood to Texas, but why does anyone even think he'd want to go to Texas? I know he's from there, but who would want to pitch for the Rangers in that park? Just about every Rangers hitter has a pretty big gap in their home/road splits. Wood has had more success than Burnett has anyway, so it seems like a pointless trade to me since Wood's value is so low.
  15. No thanks. Furcal's OBP this year is .310. It hasn't approached the high water mark in his rookie year of .394, with .354 being the next highest year. So buy low, no? Or do you believe Furcal can't achieve those rookie OBP #s again? I'm convinced he can get at least a .360-.370 OBP and be a terrific spark at the top of the order. He'll still get a ton of money from someone based on what he did in the past. He'll at least get what Renteria got, and I think the Mariners or Tigers will sign him. Nomar can outproduce him, and the money saved can be spent on something else.
  16. I wouldn't mess with the top of the lineup. Red Sox had him batting 5th before he got traded to the Cubs. I'd go with this: hairston walker lee aram nomar burnitz murton/hollandsworth barrett
  17. If the Cards could get Wagner, so could every other team in baseball who needs a closer or a SU guy. They'd all have more to offer to the Phillies than the Cards would. I don't see it happening.
  18. I don't hate Scott Rolen.
  19. Looks like you got your wish.
  20. Cards fans shouldn't have anything to complain about. There's plenty of red at the ASG.
  21. Dunn to the Dodgers wouldn't surprise me at all. Dodgers have the pitching that the Reds would want and I'm sure Depodesta loves Dunn.
  22. I don't think anyone is going to be pitched around in an All-Star game.
