  1. Woody Frekin Williams. he's struck out 94 guys in 180+ innings and k's Ramirez and Floyd with 1st&3rd. And maybe that strike 2 to Ramirez was wide, but nowhere near as bad as the 3rd one he did swing at. And a hit for himself to top it off.
  2. Yeah I don't think there is much upside to the 2 innings he pitched yesterday and hit 96. That has no place in the bullpen. Let's have guys like Wuertz in the pen instead.
  3. I do, the Cubs starting pitching can't consistently go deep in games, and they picked up a guy who has averaged over 204 innings per year in his career. They need a 6th starter anyway, one (Trachsel or Marhsall) goes to the bullpen. Marshall can go to the bullpen and spend the last month learning how to be a reliever, get used to warming up in a hurry and then if the Cubs make the playoffs, they have 2 somewhat experienced lefty relievers. This trade is not exciting and definitely not worth all the hulabaloo in this thread. 2 minor league players with little future on the Cubs for a guy that may help this year, or at least Piniella and Hendry believe he will. Big deal.
  4. Fixed Well yeah, I meant after that little streak he had for about 12 days with 6 HR's or something. It is unbelievable noone on the team has 20 HR's in almost mid August.
  5. Man this offense without Ramirez and Soriano is nauseating. (Particularly with Lee losing his power again).
  6. if rich is stupid having gone to U. of Michigan, then I don't want to know what the other guys on this team are like (most having not gone to college, and the Latin players didn't even finish their equivalent of high school) I'm not saying Hill is "dumb" but I know plenty of people who went to places like Michigan that are plenty book smart and that's about it. Aren't there more suicide attempts at schools that are harder to get into because of academics? In baseball (sports, business, etc) you need composure along with talent, and you don't necessarily learn it. seriously?? no seriously. this is your arguement. What argument? What are you reading into? Relax.
  7. Goodnight, win tommorow and win 3 of 4 in Colorado which would be just fine.
  8. Ryan Gallagher may stink, but I've never seen that guy pitch.

  10. Please, this is nowhere near the worst loss of the year. It is a game where it got out of hand in the 6th inning. Overeacting because it appeared there was going to be a good chance to take a 1/2 game lead if they won, in a game where the Cubs never had a lead. Cubs lead 1-0 Ok, whatever, in a game where the Cubs didn't have a lead after the 1st inning. Same point, it's a loss that's it. I'd rather them lost like this then any more 4+ run leads blown in the 8th/9th inning.
  11. What really hurt this team was the pitiful showing in Houston. There was no excuse to go get swept there. The Astros stink, and the Brewers should be beating them. If the Cubs had won their series there, they would have been in first place for the last several days, and still today, even with this garbage. Hill has lost his composure. Early in the year everyone was talking about how Hill really found himself, reading some self help books, blah blah blah. Now he seems to be throwing stuff in the dugout every other game. It's too bad.

  13. If Gallagher is the long man why is he in now? I guess the game is out of hand.
  14. Pie hasn't looked any better. At least Pie is automatic in CF and fast as hell.
  15. Please send Cedeno back down. Jeez.
  16. I wonder if anyone was thinking after the walk to Torrealba and the subsequent hbp if maybe it was time to make a change...
  17. Nauseating. I would enjoy this team so much more with no Jones and Cedeno.
  18. Has Lee ever looked this bad before?
  19. not even close. He may not be teams best player, but he may be the smartest and he is a damn good baseball player period. being smart doesn't make you "damn good". he's decent, he knows his limitations, and he tries real hard. he's just not nearly as good at baseball as soriano, lee, aram, or derosa. Sorry, he is a damn good player. He may not be as talented as Lee, Ramirez etc, but he plays the game right, smart, performs and therefore to me he is a damn good player.
  20. How about Lee hits a ball into play sometime during this game?
  21. not even close. He may not be teams best player, but he may be the smartest and he is a damn good baseball player period.
  22. Jeez that was close, lucky they got him out at 2nd
  23. Former right, latter??? Almost no actual talent? The ability to hit, run and play defense takes a bit of talent.
