If I'm Hendry, I target Abreu and Zito. USA Today has an article which notes the availibility of each.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/bbw/columnist/nightengale/2005-11-16-majors_x.htm

Here are my trades:

CUBS trade: Greg Maddux, Rich Hill, and Ryan Harvey

PHILLIES trade: Bobby Abreu

Cubs take on the full amount owed Abreu in 2006 (13 mil) and 2007 (15 mil), but shed the 9 mil owed to Maddux. The Phillies shed $19 million over two years in this deal. They pickup a pitcher for this year, a pitcher for tomorrow with a high upside, and an outfielder with a high upside to eventually replace Abreu.

CUBS trade: Ricky Nolasco, Robert Novoa, and Sergio Mitre

A’S trade: Barry Zito

Cubs are responsible for all of Zito’s salary. A's pick up a very good bullpen arm, a starter that is a solid bet to reach his potential and is close to the majors, and a sinkerballer who just needs consistency.

After I sign Furcal and Milton Bradley I'm left with my team:

1. Prior

2. Zambrano

3. Zito

4. Wood

5. Williams

Rusch

(Guzman, Pinto, Marshall, Ryu, Marmol will be in the upper minors.)

Dempster

Howry

Erye

Williamson

Ohman

Wuertz

SS Furcal

LF Murton

1B Lee

RF Abreu

3B Ramirez

CF Bradley

C Barrett

2B Cedeno

Blanco

Perez

Hairston

Why would Maddux waive his no-trade clause to go to a hole like Philly? Philly has the worse fans on earth.

As for Zito and Abreu, seems that Hendry has stockpiled enough young talent to get both.

I'm pretty sure Maddux has a NTC, and he isn't going anywhere anyways. If we gave them Jerome WIlliams instead, though, that might be a start if we're willing to eat all of the salary. It's going to take a lot more to get Zito though (see the Mulder and Hudson trades). I'm a big fan of Nolasco, but it's going to take more than him, a less-talented version of Jairo Garcia and a failed mediocre prospect to get Zito.
