Looks like Sosa's old buddy Jeff Pentland will be the new hitting coach of the Mariners.

On Thursday, the rest of the world caught up – the team announced the hiring of Chaves and batting coach Jeff Pentland as the Mariners began yet another retooling effort.

“Those are the two most important hires you can make,” manager Mike Hargrove said. “We went into the process with open minds, to hire the two best people we could find. We’ve done that.”

Would Sosa be interested in joining Pentland in Seattle as an OF/DH? Would Seattle have any interest in him?

It would be a smart fit since hardly anyone even notices the Mariners. And Sosa would help the team continue to appeal to the Asian market as Sosa is a big draw in Japan.
