I get this one all the time after I hit "Submit"

Max connections per IP reatched, ( 8 ) please use fewer open windows

I don't have many open windows. And reached is misspelled. What's the deal?

As part of my efforts to cut down on sessions errors, I implemented a board mod that limits the number of open sessions per IP to eight. If you are getting that error, you are somehow creating that many sessions.

I've heard that in some cases Firefox may implement a look ahead feature where it pre-caches the links available on a page. If that's the case, it may be opening that many sessions without you being aware. I'm not sure how this feature operates or gets turned on/off, though. Or if it even exists.

I am indeed on Firefox. I'll look into it. It's pretty annoying though. Requires many "reloads" to get past the error.

I changed it to allow 15 sessions per IP. Hopefully that helps with the error.

I use internet explorer and I've gotten the old "phpBB Critical Error" message a few times today. But hitting the 'refresh' button seems to fix that.

I've also been getting that same message a lot today. I use Firefox.

That's because I upped the max sessions variable. Suddenly, each IP is opening up a whole lot more sessions and the DB gets overloaded.

Eight seems to work pretty well.

No promises here, but this is something to try.

1) locate your Firefox install (c:\program files\mozilla firefox is the default)

2) Open the file \defaults\profile\prefs.js

3) Add a new line with the following text: user_pref("network.prefetch-next",false);

4) save and close that file, then reload Firefox.

That will stop precaching within firefox and will hopefully prevent the errors you are getting. Obviously, if that doesn't work, then open that file and remove that line.

Sorry about the issues, but hopefully, this will work.
