He won't sign with the Cubs for less than 4. Of course I'd prefer 3 to 4, but inking him is more important. As Tim has suggested, you could always trade him once you feel he's on the precipice of decline.

At this point, it's not the deal that we would like, but what will it take and will you go that far.

 

I think the poll should be offer four or more and get Giles or offer three and hope for the best and end up with Burnitz.

 

Voting for three years is voting to let the Cardinals or Padres or Dodgers sign him.

I totally agree with Vance.

 

A minimum of 4 years is the only way to get this thing done. And I am of the belief that if the Cubs don't sign Giles and fail to trade for someone of equal value, then they are going to have to get pretty lucky if they hope to make the playoffs in '06.
