Alright, seriously, with the Cubs 7.5 games back on August 25th, and Aramis and Nomar likely hitting the DL, it's time to shut down Kerry Wood and get the surgery done. The Cubs need to be realistic enough to know that they aren't going to pass 6 teams in the wild card standings, and that it's not doing Kerry any good to be out there throwing as hard as he can for one inning every three games.

 

Sometimes you just have to learn to realize when a season is over, and start making plans for next year.

Eh, Zambrano could always pinch hit. Actually, I'd prefer if Zambrano pinch hit instead of those guys.

I've been an advocate of keeping Kerry going until the Cubs were out of it. They're out of it. Shut him down.

 

Let's play the kids the rest of the way. Let them know that there is no real pressure to win this year and to just go out, have fun and see what they can do. I'd like to see Pie and Murton in the OF Cedeno at SS and Hill in the rotation.

Except that Macias will somehow bat higher than both Barrett and Corey
