Will some teams recognize that he's been a quality closer for the Cubs and go after him this offseason?

Or, will they look at his misleading season ERA, think he wasn't very good and try to avoid him?

Do teams really do their homework before offering contracts?

Do you see the Cubs re-signing Dempster? I'd like to see him back, but I'd also try to sign a top tier closer and see Dempster as a setup reliever.

How much money will Dempster command?

Who is the Cubs closer next year:

1) Dempster

2) Williamson

3) Wood

4) Someone else from within the organization (Could Guzman be a successful closer?

5) Someone else via free agency or trade

I know this post isn't tied together very well, I'm awfully tired and I'm about to go to bed...

But, in general, what kind of market do you see this offseason for Dempster, either as a starter or a reliever, and do you see the Cubs bringing him back?

I don't know that there's a ton of teams ready to jump on the Dempster wagon. Personally, the guys done ok, but he reminds me of Rod Beck when he's out there closing games. He hasn't been overpowering, or a shut down guy buy any means.

Generally, I think that other teams would look at him as a set-up guy and as far as next season.............I hope the Cubs do too. I'd like to have him back, but I'd like to see the Cubs go after Wagner, or Ryan hard.

No idea what his asking price will be. He'll probably want more then his current 2M deal.

Dempster gets results, and that's all I care about.

Give Wood one last shot in the rotation. If he's out for an extended period of time again, THEN move him to closer. But I think we're going to need him in the rotation at least to start the year.

Dempster isn't one of the problems of this team. I think he's done a tremendous job, and should be rewarded with a fair contract. I just hope we don't see a repeat of the Borowski fiasko.

He gets the job done.........he doesn't do a tremendous job. The elite closers do a tremendous job and Dempster's not an elite closer.

I won't argue that he has gotten the job done, but do you want him in a 1 run ballgame w/ runners on in a playoff clincher? I don't think so.
