According to ITI, Wylie is out for the season after a "freak accident." He was rehabbing at Mesa.

The doubleheader is underway, but there could be rain later on.

Daytona strikes for 2 in the first.

I left in the top of the 7th and it's a good thing I did. Rapada blew the save as the VB Dodgers won it on a walkoff 3-run HR.

Nice start by Mateo, though. 6 IP, 4 hits, 1 run, 0 walks, 6 strikeouts. Before the leadoff double he gave up in the 7th, he had a 3-hit shutout through 6.

In game two, the Cubs are down 2-0 early after Mathes gave up a 2-run HR in the first.

Theriot leads off the 4th with a single to break up the perfect game. Pinto has given up a run through 3.

Iowa changed their starter from Koronka to Pignatiello.

Pinto got into a jam but stuck out the next two batters. He has a very sharp slider tonight and lively fastball (one of which was clocked at 97 mph on the stadium gun). Still 1-0 after 4. They wasted a good opportunity in the 3rd.

Kopitzke gets robbed of a double in the alley but it still brings home Creighton to tie the game.

Should they give Renyel a few starts at Iowa to see how he does or leave him at West Tennessee for the playoffs? Or will he get plenty of time at Iowa to show the Cubs what he can do regardless?

First time Ive had a chance to listen in this season and Ive gotta say I really like the way Ron works. People don't realize how difficult it can be to work alone and Ron makes it sound very easy, hopefully I do as well!!

and a great almost HR call on Creighton's double, and on the diving play by Carolina's outfielder that tied the game for West Tenn.

Liked your answer to this question, Ron.

I'd love to have a chance to see the DJaxx play ... I was hoping to this season, but some other travel obligations interfered.

3-1 DJaxx!

Us Cubs fans are quite fortunate to have talented minor league broadcasters to listen to.

A hit and run single by Sing drives in Craig. Creighton drives in a pair now with his second double of the game. 6-1 in the 6th.

Cedeno has a homer... nice to see him getting regular playing time again

Sweet. And a good start to the game for Carmen.

Daytona is being blown out in game 2. Enrique Cruz has a HR, but they're down 12-4 after 3. Mathes took a real beating: 1.2 IP, 8 hits, 10 runs, 2 walks, 1 strikeout, 2 HRs.

Oh, and thanks for the response, Ron! Enjoy the ice cream.

I can talk with someone about the game all day long, but I always thought it be tough to broadcast solo.

I'd probably lose touch and alternate between ranting and raving. :D

Pinto surrenders a 3-run double and leaves the game with one out in the 6th. Ramos coming in.

Renyel seemed to have lost some velocity on his fastball in the last inning.

In Iowa, Carmen helped his own cause with a 2-out RBI single. The I-Cubs have scored 2 in each of the first three innings.

If you think that's good be sure to listen August 26th  (just kidding)

Agreed, we are very fortunate.

For those of us who haven't been here, what was Ron's response?

I've been listening to the DJaxx all week - ever since I came to terms with the fact the Cubbies aren't worth my time, and that I CAN listen to the DJaxx.

Play for WT through the playoffs, and than in Sept. make a couple of starts IN Chicago. He's on the 40 man, might as well see what he can do in the big leauges when the games don't matter.

Kopitzke with a 2-out single to drive in Coats. 7-5.

Great game by Piggy. Not sure if it was an emergency start or what. Koronka was listed as the scheduled starter early in the afternoon.

5 IP, 3 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, 0 strikeouts.

Cedeno was ejected in the 4th inning, however.

Moore hit his 19th HR of the season for Daytona.

Mudcats with the tying run up with 2 outs in the 9th

And there it goes...

Ugh. Blown save for Shipman.
