By my calculations, here are his August numbers:

BA - .429

OBP - .538

He's 9-21 with 4 BB, 1 HBP, 6 K, 5 R.

The good news is the walks & HBP. The bad news is the K's. That batting average won't stay that high with that many strikeouts.

But hey, it's progress.

His batting average won't stay that high even if he reduces his Ks to zero.

After I submitted, I knew someone would jump at that!

Okay, Mr. Smarty, his BA won't likely stay above .300 if he keeps striking out at that rate. ;)

Assuming Corey remains with the Cubs into spring training next year, has anyone heard any talk of him playing winter ball anywhere or doing SOMETHING special in the offseason to try to work on his ability to read the strikezone better?

There HAS to be some coach out there or some system that can help this kid read the ball better coming to the plate doesn't there?

I still have hopes for him because I just hate seeing raw talent wasted, but man, his time is running out :-(.

From the Tribune today-

"Corey Patterson's average is up to .273 after a slow start at Triple-A Iowa, & he may be called up to the Cubs in time for the four game series agaisnt St. Louis at Wrigley Field, which opens Thursday."

Wtf. We could have used him against the Mets. He had 2 homers against them in May, yet we let Macias play? O_o

had a good night tonite, 3 for 3 2 HR's, 4 RBI's

up to .297 in Iowa

I hope he can play similarly in Chicago again. I've always liked him and I would hate to see him go somewhere else and prosper if he's capable of playing well in Chicago. I hope if he starts off slow, the fans don't get all over him again. Give him a chance to play stress free once he's back.

It'll be interesting to see how the fans react the rest of the way in. Some of the booing now is probably a reflection of the disappointment in this club relative to expectations. The Cubs are basically out of it, so after the initial disappointment, will the booing continue the rest of the year? Or will fans just show up to the park feeling apathetic? I really don't know.

So, I've got him at .297/.360/.505 right now.

i wouldnt have said that was the most unlikely line for him with the cubs for this season. optimistic, but probably what i was hoping to see from him
