I've mentioned previously that Jim Hendry graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile. The morning duo of the radio station for which SpanishFortCub works interviewed Hendry for ten minutes this moring. Unfortunately, I only caught about five minutes of it on my way to work. I'm sure that SpanishFortCub will hear the entire interview today if he hasn't already, and maybe he can comment on anything that I missed. There's nothing shocking, so be forewarned.

- Hendry stated that there was no truth to the rumors regarding Dusty Baker departing for LA after this season. In fact, Baker was extremely upset by this story. Both Hendry and Baker contacted Jim Tracy to state this, because they both respect Tracy a great deal. Hendry met with the Dodger's GM over the weekend to discuss a couple of trade ideas, and neither Baker nor Tracey were a topic for discussion this weekend...lol

- Hendry is happy that they were able to add Lawton. He feels that he could be a difference maker for the remainder of the season. Many GM's were shying away from the "rental" type deal and that's one of the reasons that there weren't too many other deals made around the league. Gerut will most likely play very well next season after fully recovering from his leg problems, but Lawton should be able to aid more in helping the Cubs get to the playoffs this season. I came in during this discussion, so I'm not certain if Lee Trevanian asked whether there will be a priority to resign Lawton. SpanishFortCub????

- They are tinkering with both Corey Patterson's stance and where he holds his hands. He initially struggled with this, but he's starting to hit the ball more solidly. Hendry didn't put a timetable on his return, but he did state that this won't necessarily iron itself out quickly. I think this somewhat contradicts Bruce Levine's report that Corey would be back with 7-10 days. If Corey continues to hit for the next week and a half then, he'll probably be back with the big club. I got the feeling from Hendry's tone this morning that they wouldn't be bringing him up if he's struggling though...not suprising.

-Hendry stated that he'd be back on WNSP in 2-3 weeks once we have a good idea as to what the remainder of this season holds for Cubdom.

It's nice to see that Jim can laugh about it.

Only kidding, of course. Thanks for the info!

A lapdance from Roseanne Barr.

I've always thought that CPatt's hands were in the wrong position when he gets loaded and his bat just too up and down for my taste. I hope this works for the kid becuse I think he would be a nice addition along with Nomar and Wood.
