Twins released second baseman Bret Boone.

Boone went 9-for-53 in 14 games with the Twins. His track record and the Twins' lack of alternatives would have earned him a longer look under normal circumstances. Boone's decline hardly seems natural, however.

First the Mariners dump him, now Minnesota. I doubt anyone else signs him this year.

You forgot to add "and play in front of their promising young players."

Not if the Yankees don't sign him first!

No -- he will be signed by the Cardinals, converted to an outfielder, and immediately return to peak career production. :|

FWIW the "reject" Borowski they signed when the Cubs released him since then has pitched better than anyone in the Cubs bullpen except possibly Dempster.

Borowski has not given up a run yet in 10 appearances. The walls will probably come crashing in on him soon, but at this point it looks like the Cubs should have released Remlinger instead of Borowski.

Borowski's velocity wasn't where it needed to be and he was leaving the ball up in the zone. He was getting hammered. DFA'ing him was the right thing to do. It's nice to see him doing well in TB, but I'm not sure he would be real successful pitching in any meaningful games.

The Red Sox, White Sox and Orioles probably thought the games against them were "meaningful".

Bottom line is he is getting guys out while Mitre, Remlinger and Wuertz are not. To me that makes it a bad decision, especially when they had options available to send Mitre or Wuertz back to AAA.

But the thing is... how come whatever he found in Tampa almost immediately after he got there, he couldn't find here?

I'd say it's probably because there is a lot less pressure on him in TB. Some will disagree on this, but he was just getting hammered and people were fed up with it. I'd say part of the blame goes on Dusty IMO, he used him in some tough situations (like with the bases loaded against Jeter in NY) when he should have eased him in more. I really don't expect him to keep pitching this well, anyways.
