seen on tv where griffey's contract is back loaded for like 15-20 yrs after his contract is up.

i dont think any team will take that on. esp. with his track record of injuries these last few years.

 

Yea there is like 54.2 (i think) million dollars in deferred money (at 4% interest). Its deferred till 2009-2024 :shock:

 

I do NOT NOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOT want Griffey. I'd LOVE dunn though.

Whatever deferred salary Griffey has already earned would not be paid by the club that traded for him. For example, if a team traded for him this offseason they'd owe him no more than the $41.5 million he's owed over 2006-2008. (That's assuming the Reds don't send back a dime in the deal and Griffey's 2009 option is not picked up.) The defferred payments for 2000-2005 would still be the responsibility of the Reds.
