OK I'm trying to calm myself down after that display but look at this

If I was going to pick any three starting pitcher to go against the Cardinals right now one would be Prior one would be Zambrano, the other would probably be williams. Williams has been fairly consistent, the only problems is he gets shaky towards the end which leads towards main problem number one: the bullpen. If I had a pick of any I would also consider Hill over Williams, because a Card fan had said on here that they have trouble with lefties. But we do have our best options at starting pitcher out there and a couple of innings eaters (if they are ON)

Are offense is also still showing up so that's a good thing. ARAM is smoking.

You also have going for you that we are missing Sanders and Molina, and that Rolen is an automatic out because of his bum shoulder.

I'm guessing TLR might start Mabry at third against Zamrano and Prior.

I'm generally optimistic, but we are going to have to have all three starters go at least seven innings each start for us to have a good series in STL. The bad news weather wise is each day is supposed to be around 100, and we're talking summertime in St. Louis so add the massive humidity and it may be hard for starters to go long. I hope Zambrano gets fed plenty of fluids tonight and tomorrow to alleviate any possible cramping.

Seeing as the Cubbies have been up and down all year, the best thing for all of us is to go into this series with ZERO expectations. We never know which Cub team will show up. That being said, I hope it's the one that scores 8 runs a game...

The only really bright positive I see right now is that Derrek Lee has some protection behind him in ARam. I don't know who's hotter of the two right now. Other than that, the Cards can just wait till we put the bullpen in.

There are other small positives (Todd Walker hitting, Burnitz walking more, etc) that we have going for us, but we're going to need everyone firing to take the series. Even with a banged up team, the Cards have Carpenter (front runner for NL Cy Young IMO), and Matt Morris (11-2) going for them. Sure we have Z against Carp, but which Z will we get? Pulling out a win today would've made me feel a lot better about this team's chances in the Lou. If they would've fought off the Cincy charge, they'd have much more life in them right now.

8 runs might not be enough if you have to go to the pen. I want the Cub team that the starter goes eight and the closer shuts down the ninth.

That's the team I want too!! :D

The offence seems to be a little more consistent with Hairston and Walker 1 and 2, but that bullpen is soooooooo very inconsistent.

The Cardinals will have our bullpen for lunch. JMHO.

The Cardinals' record is horrible when they are trailing after 5. My husband is sorta the BOTB version of Fred...I can get the stats if you want specifics. All I remember right now is they're not pretty. I know for a fact that they have only won 1 game when they have trailed going into the ninth inning.

Reasons not to worry:

We have the healthiest starting pitching.

The best manager in baseball.

Best bullpen in baseball.

Ok, maybe we do have to worry a bit ;)
