honestly, i'm not sure the cubs will make a big move at all. i wouldn't be surprised if the cubs pick up a couple of players through the waiver wire or trade for some bullpen help.

there's a couple reasons for this. first of all, there are too many teams hanging on in the NL. maybe it will be clearer as august draws closer, but i think there's too many teams that won't be willing to sell. secondly, if it's true that hendry doesn't want a rental (which is fine by me), i don't think there's many long-term solutions to the cubs' needs. adam dunn is really the only player that has been discussed that would be here for a long time. also, i think that when nomar comes back, it will be the first time the team is together as intended. the cubs are playing great right now, and if they can stay healthy and pitch the way they have been, i'm pretty happy with our chances. if they weren't so inconsistent, i'd be much more confident, but if the cubs play this way up until the trade deadline, i'm not sure they have to make a big move.

i still want dunn though.
