Philadelphia's Billy Wagner, the other closer on the NL roster who didn't get into the game, joked with Isringhausen that they could be teammates - a rumor that will surface if the Phillies become sellers.

 

If Billy is willing to be a set-up guy to get that WS ring, good for him. I could see the Red Sox making a play on him.

If the Cards could get Wagner, so could every other team in baseball who needs a closer or a SU guy. They'd all have more to offer to the Phillies than the Cards would. I don't see it happening.

The Cards do have two fairly high ceiling starting pitchers in AAA right now in Wainwright and Reyes.
