I actually am wondering if he requested to be released to make room for CPat and Dubois. He grew up in Chicago as a Cubs fan and has been coming back to Des Moines in the hopes of making it to Wrigley again. I have met the man, and he is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. My gut feeling when I heard of his release was that he said it was his time to go. Heck, after Ronny was called back up, he did become the I-Cubs best hitter.

Yea, I really have to think it was his choice. He's wildly popular at Sec Taylor and was having a good season. I suppose I should be glad that I witnessed his last game as an I-Cub, though now I'm wishing Id made an effort to get his autograph while I still had a chance. He was an incredibly nice guy and was one of the reasons I enjoyed going to I-Cubs games so much.

I made the effort in '03 (right before I hung out at Rod Beck's RV), and I am glad I did. Trenidad's cell phone rang as he came out to sign autographs, and he picked it up and said "I'm busy, I'll give you a call back". He spent about 30 minutes playing and joking around with all of the kids that waited and triple-checked to make sure he signed for everyone that waited before he went back inside. He had a huge smile on his face the entire time.
