I am curious as to what you all think of Sosa being benched? He doesnt seem nearly as upset as when he was dropped to 6th last year in the order. Is it possible even Sammy the Warrior realizes his days are numbered?

I dont really remember him putting up a fuss last year when he was moved down. If I remember correctly he actually told baker to move him down because he wanted to win. At least that was the origional story that came out. The whole HUGE EGO thing is a little overrated, IMO. Not saying he doesnt have an ego, just not the collosal one people beleive.

Oh, and I agree with SCS, we need a spellcheck. I'm sure chocolate milk would agree also.

That's what I'm waiting to see from the O's is if it was chicago who made sammy look like the monster ego or if he really has one.

About being dropped in the order, he made a huge fuss for weeks before being dropped then when it was obvious he needed to be dropped it became his idea, then after the season he said he never wanted to be dropped and was insulted when baker did it.....

I'm sure he probably does have an ego. I cant think of many people that dont. However, I think it was greatly exaggerated by the media. The media loves stories of betrayal, the media loves lies, the media loves sob stories. The media loves things that would make good news, period.

Before we go believing what the media has to say, let's remember that their main goal today is to get ratings and sell papers. Giving accurate news reports is only secondary.

Sosa is 1 for is last 38. He's only hit 2 balls of his last 16 at-bats into the outfield. He's struggling badly.

As I recall, when asked about being dropped Sosa's reaction was that he should be batting third or fourth be cause he was the heart of the team (or a gladiator, or the "mang," or something like that).

Which could mean, "How dare you suggest they drop me in the order, I'm SAMMY SOSA!"

But it could also mean, "For this team to succeed, I need to be hitting like a third or fourth hitter as I have in the past."

Sammy haters will assume the former, Sammy lovers will assume the latter.

The rest of us really don't care about semantics; we're just sad that the greatest hitter in team history didn't get to leave the game gracefully in a Cub uniform.

As I have already mentioned, when Sammy was on rehab in Jackson there were reports of how he had ego issues in West Tennessee. I can tell you through people and players in the organization that the reports were not accurate at all.
