Changes to ads on our forums

Over the next few hours, this change should propagate to all users:

We've reduced ad coverage on the forums by about 25% on mobile devices. I've received complaints and also been bothered by how prevalent ads are on phones, specifically on the forums. While there will still occasionally be ad-post-ad situations, it will be rare now and after testing this for several days, I've seen more instances of four posts in a row with no ads between than I've seen ad-post-ad situations.

Hopefully this makes browsing and participating on the forums a more pleasant experience on mobile devices!

Yeah I can't say there's been much improvement. Still the same homes.com ad...nauseum

My terrible homes com and at the bottom has been replaced with the same design jets pizza ad

It's all Dan Levy and Morgan Freeman all the time. And "x-ing" out of it just brings it back 3 seconds later

Where are videos appearing on mobile? This absolutely shouldn't be happening but I really don't use the sites on mobile that often.

yup. they show up on the bottom and keep coming back. Mostly homes.com ads

I get them frequently as well, and also a giant adidas (i think?) ad that takes up the entire screen and have to scroll past

The homes.com ad popped up 5 times in just under 60 seconds this morning

Anyone else's screen randomly disappearing all the posts on a page occasionally? Sometimes the come back, sometimes they don't until I change the page. I assume it's ad related.  This is probably the thing that's going to push me to paying for ad free membership.

Okay, now this has spread to a second site. I first started receiving complaints about this maybe two days ago on Brewer Fanatic.

How many people are seeing this? I have yet to see it myself so I have NO IDEA how it's happening.

Not seeing this specifically but a couple days ago my screen has started to freeze while scrolling my feed (not within a topic). I have to close and reopen my whole browser to fix it

So the mobile site is quite unusable now. This happens, followed by a freeze, daily

That's within a topic. So now it freezes on scrolling the feed and within a topic. Gonna take a long break now

What do they do? I have yet to see one.

I only see them on mobile, but a video creeps up from the bottom of the screen (that covers 1/4 of the screen). You "X" out of it, and 5 seconds later it comes back. Over and over and over again

I'm not sure what's causing it (I think it's the add your email pop up) but my screen is flashing between normal and a shaded screen and I'm going to have a seizure.  It did it once yesterday and once the pop up finally came on screen, it went away.  I can't get it to stop today.

I haven't had the flashing, but the damn video ads on mobile are enough to make me want to sue homes.com
