I mean, he's gonna cool off, four homers in four games isn't sustainable. That .327 average probably isn't going to stick around, either.

But still, early returns on Busch couldn't be better. I thought this was a pretty savvy trade by the Cubs but hoped that Busch might settle into being a decent regular.

In 2024, he's already been worth 0.7 fWAR, which is bloody impressive from his position. His BB% is over 10% and his strikeout rate is 25%, which is entirely reasonable in the modern game from a guy with his power.

It's unreal, he has been more or less a perfect hitter. 

Even the little bit of blue on his page isn't bad.  His in zone contact rate is ~77th percentile while his out of zone contact rate is 21st.  That's exactly what you want!  Unless you're a slap guy you don't want to make a lot of out of zone contact because that's generally weak contact.  And the strikeouts are mainly because he's working deep counts (4.5 pitches per PA).

Obviously pitchers will adjust, and he's been almost completely shielded from LHP to this point, but just an incredible story.
