^^ I missed that completely

The South Bend Cubs get to face Asa Lacy tonight, basically the best college SP prospect in years, so that should be fun. I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the MLs this September to get his feet wet

And Tennessee is facing Shane Baz.

Cam Sanders: 5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K

Cam Sanders line is especially fun after seeing AZ Phil say he was touching 96 in ST

And after reports (h/t named after maddux) had Cubs exec predicting both Sanders and Bain would be top 10 prospects in the org by season's end.

That's high praise assuming this unnamed exec knows who is currently in the Cubs top 10 because not many of them are likely to graduate.

Brennen Davis

Brailyn Marquez

Miguel Amaya

Cristian Hernandez

Ed Howard

Kohl Franklin

Are a very solid top 6. The next 4:

Chris Morel

Ryan Jensen

Chase Strumpf

Reggie Preciado

Morel's overly aggressive approach could get him into trouble against AA pitching and hurt his prospect stock. Jensen might not maintain his stuff deep into starts and show himself to be a reliever. Strumpf looks prepared to rake. Preciado has a lot of upside which will make him difficult to drop in rankings. There are several prospects in the 10-30 range who could also make some big jumps. Pinango, Caissie, Mena, Riley Thompson, Made, Santana, Quintero, etc.

If this Cubs exec is correct, leapfrogging all those players and jumping from unranked in a top 30 to the top 10 would quite the feather in the cap of their scouting (Bain) and development (Sanders) departments.

Cam's AA debut today makes for a nice 1st step...

Manuel Rodríguez trying to complete the combined no-hitter for Tennessee.

Rodríguez walks two guys, then gives up a home run with two outs to lose the no-hitter and blow the lead.

Cubs pitching prospect Cam Sanders busted down the door last night, folks, facing the minimum 15 hitters in a five-inning Double-A debut. He was (according to a source) up to 98 mph with a well-commanded fastball, and frequently mixed in all three of his secondaries. And the 12th round pick from the 2018 Draft has now positioned himself as the first breakout Cubs prospect of this unique 2021 campaign.

Get the velo back up to the high 90's by June and he'll be in TN pretty easily.
