Former Cubs prospect Trey McNutt, now 30, may have felt a little extra adrenaline today. Despite having an ERA over 5 at both AA and AAA this year, he shut down the I-Cubs for 3.1 innings allowing 3 hits, no runs, no walks and striking out 4 in Des Moines today.

 

McNutt never made it to Iowa. He stalled out in AA playing there for the Cubs in parts of 4 consecutive seasons before being released in 2015.
