Loved visiting Seattle. I love a ton of stuff about Chicago as a city but visiting those places makes me realize how crappily located we are. Once you get past the city proper, the burbs are flat boring landscape and then eventually you hit cornfields as far as the eye can see. A ton more natural beauty in Seattle and the surrounding area.
The Chicago River and Lake Michigan are fairly unique natural landmarks, but yeah, that flat nothingness is the rest. As a NYC area resident for 20+ years, being able to physically enter the water right next to the city is something I miss.
