I for one am shocked Derwood didn’t read the last couple of posts before posting something

I’m shocked that you do t understand that posts can be made while you are typing

I wonder how much of Q’s performance is related to throwing 120 pitches last outing?

Good point. The Cubs needed him to grind out an extra inning because we couldn’t afford another 5-6 inning start and now it could be biting us on the other end. It’s a never ending cycle

He had an extra day rest, though, to be fair. But I'm willing to use it as an excuse.

Seriously though give me a reason I can’t pin this on Hickey? I mean the pitchers have to pitch but how do you explain a bunch of starters with solid to great track records all the sudden collectively performing poorly, unable to go more than 5 innings even when they are getting decent results?

I guess you could say that the bullpen is collectively pitching well (outside on Duensing) so maybe he’s having an effect there but overall a good starting rotation on paper is collectively pitching like the worst staff in the league.

Sorry you lose the benefit of doubt when you tend to do this quite often

Like I said the other day, the Willson and Montey responses about Hickey were not flattering.

They're pitchers.

I have no idea what it is. Every starter is worse this year and Hickey has to have some blame/cause. What that is who knows, but the only guys who’ve gotten better on the staff are Carl and Cishek (who he reportedly was credited with for fixing him last year in TB). At the same time these are all veteran starters so I find it hard to believe he’s overly tweaking horsefeathers with them and maybe it’s all just random horsefeathers luck nonsense that they’ve alll been bad.

The bullpen is awesome, though, so don't we have to give him credit for that?

ETA: Sorry. Didn't see that second graph.

I thought the Cubs were a good 2nd half team?

Yeah when they don’t have a complete dumpster fire rotation

Then, I don’t want to hear from the media how well they play in the 2nd half under Joe.

What's the most runs we have scored in the first inning this season? Is that easy to look up? It dawned on me that I don't remember jumping on a team like this, but I also know a lot of games have been played.

I remember they used to score a bunch of runs early and then all zeros after that.

You are opposed to facts?

If Chatwood comes out of the pen and starts dominating we then know that we have to make everyone a relief pitcher

2nd worst staff BB/9 in baseball

What were we last year that got Bosio fired.

Tied for 8th most in mlb but only 14 more than NL average

So, the guy was hired to fix that one thing. Chatwood or not, walks are up and Ks are down. Not a good look.

They've scored more runs than any team in the NL.

No, but it sounds like it’s more attributed to the pitching than Joe Maddon
