Guys generally hit the ball hard, though not great results the SPs velo seemed mostly good just some bad command/luck, bullpen was exceptional, nobody got hurt, 3-1 would’ve been nice but 2-2 is fine, lots of good things I saw. No reason to think this isn’t a 95 to 100+ win team.

This is our one "everything goes against us" game of the season, right?

“One”

Sometimes baseball is unfair, and sometimes is a lot more often than 1 out of 162 times. That’s why they play 162 times.

yep...and it's why even the most insanely good team ever still lost 28% of the time and lost a playoff series

overreacting to one or two games in football (or playoff baseball) is totally understandable but i really don't get it with regular season baseball

these first 4 games looked exactly like the first half cubs of last season

Except they were started by actual good pitchers and not John Lackey, Brett Anderson, and Eddie Butler.

This team is nothing like last year's.

But last year was a specific case of us having an aging and injured rotation with no depth, which didn't allow us to ever pile up wins, until we traded for Quintana and also got healthy. There was also probably some hangover effect going on there, but whatever. We just weren't a very good team with who we were trotting onto the field in the first half.

This was just a case of us not playing well and having a bad series. Unless every single bad game is now going to be some similitude of the 2017 first-half Cubs, then I don't see why it's pertinent.

i wasn't trying to assign any kind of meaning to it, it was just an annoying/flukey/dumb series in the same ways as early last year. i was bemoaning the cosmos, not the cobs.

Why is tomorrow’s game in Cincy a day game when they’ve already had their opening day?

They tend to have more weekday day games in April, especially in the northern (or in the case of Cincinnati northern ish) cities
