Can someone explain why the Bears don't ever try things like slants and WR screens to get the ball moving?

 

It seems like every play is run up the middle or a long developing intermediate pass play. Considering defenses are stacking the box and putting pressure on every dropback it seems like short quick passes would be ideal.

 

Do they not believe Mitch can read man vs zone well enough to let him make passes like that? Obviously the Bears don't have personnel like the Saints where you'd expect a wideout to make a bunch of moves to get a ton of YAC but adding that to the playcalling at least gives the defense more things to account for.
