now seems like a good time for jay's first HR

Yesterday would've been a horrible time for it.

i pretty much just think that at every plate appearance for him at this point. I assume he's capable of hitting at least one this year

i wasn't paying attention but afterwards len said you could see the tag get willson's finger

i was watching and didn't see it. and, even if he *maybe* could squint hard enough to see perhaps a brush of a finger, it certainly wasn't enough to overturn a safe call IMO. these replay reviews are incredibly flaky and unreliable in regards to their standards of proof

I didn't watch any of the game yesterday - just saw box score after a bunch of day drinking on the golf course.

*checks yesterday's game stats*

whoops! nothing to see here, carry on.

jake throwing hard?

Low 90's

sitting 92-93, topping at 94.

He's probably never going to get back to his previous mid-90s velocity but if he can command his pitches like he did today with that movement, he can still be a very good pitcher. Hopefully he can build on today's start but I'm guessing he'll continue to be inconsistent start to start.

joe trying to hard to blow it, unreal

His relievers are kind of trying, too.

koji's struggles pitching on consecutive days are well documented, there was absolutely no reason to use him

Huge start from Jake. And he maintained his velocity pretty well throughout the game. 93.5 mph on avg. sinker in 1st inning. 92.6 mph in 7th.

Only 2 homers allowed in his last 6 starts. He's getting a ton of ground balls lately. And his BABIP has dropped a ton. There's stuff trending in the right direction. My only real question is how well his arm holds up. How much will the fatigue issues affect him? He can definitely come out an pitch well. But, how many of those blowups like his last start will we see?

Like Raisin said earlier, he's far too inconsistent for me to trust, but his command has been a lot better lately. I just don't know what to expect from him. He's too hard to get a read on. He could die at any moment and I wouldn't be surprised. But he could also give us a strong second-half and I wouldn't be shocked, either.
