Have there been any quotes from the FO stating where Happ will start the season? I was assuming he'd still go to AA, but Iowa seems like a possibility with how long he's stuck around.

Why was Schwarber removed for a pinch runner in the 1st?

I'm watching without volume, but being that it was right after he walked and there was no discussion about it and he seemed fine slapping hands in the dugout it must have been a planned 1 AB and out situation for whatever reason.

speculation that it has to do with it being his 3rd day in a row playing with one of those days being catching 4 innings.

I've seen very little of ST and am putting zero stock in its results. But:

What the chances Almora could have an average bat in CF? Does he make the opening day roster or does he need more time in the minors to start?

There was never any question he'd be on the opening day roster. He's been expected to have a share of everyday duties (presumably how much of it depending on how well he's doing) along with Jay all along.

He was an MLB average hitter in his 120ish PA last year, so there's at least a pretty OK chance he can do that, if not better.

Here's our 20-run game.

apparently completely [expletive] on the reds isn't just limited to the regular season

this is way beyond even the 08 team making the pirates it's personal whipping boy

Unless I missed something, I've just assumed Almora is on the team to start.

ETA: what David said.

The knock on Almora is that he wasn't a very good hitter in the minors, and hence the projection systems don't think he will do well offensively. His big flaw is that he is hard to walk. If he keeps hitting, pitchers will stop challenging him as much, hopefully he will be patient and take his walks.

Speaking of patience, Heyward walked in all three of his plate appearances today. Not quite as nice as hitting home runs, but still a positive sign we might get pre-2016 Heyward. Strike zone recognition is important.
