Aren't Jackson and Soriano our current highest paid players?

Soriano makes 14MM

Jackson 13MM

Hammel $6MM

Castro $5,857,143

Shark $5,345,000

Schierholtz $5MM,

Villanueva $5MM

Fujikawa $4.5MM

Wood $3.9MM

Veres $3.85MM

So of our 10 highest paid players, 4 play elsewhere or don't play, 1 is on the DL indefinitely, and 3 are awful.

I thought the Yankees picked up some of Sorianos contract?

I think it was just what was left for last year, but I don't remember anymore.

They are. He's making $18M this year.

Is Edwin Jackson an example of how expensive pitching can go wrong or a counter-example to the argument that pitching can be acquired without overpaying for elite talent? Is he something else entirely?

Villaneuva's ineptitude was easier to stomach when he had that sweet 'stache.

Yeah, much easier to get pissed at now.

He's an example of a guy who will always underperform his peripherals because I don't know

This is very "THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME," but he looks like he's Soto's brother now and so when he sucks it just reminds me of Soto's downfall and I get doubly mad/sad.

I've had more than one meatball friend/family member point to him as proof that the Cubs are doing the right thing by not spending more money.

It's an example that pitchers are the absolute worst and we should hate them universally as a species

Unless, by some miracle, a team wants to trade for Jackson, what do you do with him next year? Put him at the end of the bullpen, release him, or just keep trotting him out there hoping he eventually stops sucking?

You trot him out there next year in the hopes he rebounds because they aren't going to be able to adequately replace three rotation spots this offseason (even with some internal options helping out like Hendricks or Wada).

Ok I'm calling it now. The Cubs pick up 3 runs this inning and make this bitch more interesting.
