this team is [expletive] terrible right now. can't finish games. losing a lot of points early on.

not really. they've just scored an unsustainably low amount of goals for the amount of pressure/chances they've had so far this year. much easier to close games when you have 3 or 4 goals every night. they've shown a million times over the last 4 years that they can close.

yeah, that was hyperbole, but i'm hoping these early points dont come back to hurt (not so much as in the hawks making the playoffs, but moreso maybe knocking a few teams down a seed or two). either way, its frustrating right now

i'm disappointed in their record too, considering they've played a lot of home games and a lot of bad teams. the games have been frustrating to watch, but i'm confident the floodgates will open soon and we'll start pouring on the goals.

also, crawford has been awesome so far. i'd be more worried if we were giving up a bunch of goals.

They're still picking up points. It's not like they're pulling up the rear in the conference. I'm not worried yet.

Also, I'd love to put in an amazing season of total dominance again this year, but I don't think that's likely. And they don't need to. Once they're in the playoffs, they will have the advantage of more post-season experience over most of their opponents. That'll make up for a slightly lower seed.

great patience by pirri

Yeah sure seems like if he plays well on the defensive end he's going to stick around awhile.

Let's see if the Hawks can reverse the trend and hold onto a 3rd period lead.

They're definitely letting up again.

I love Pat and Eddie, but I love more getting CBC's production tonight on NHLN. They are second to none.

A few thoughts there:

The unabashed homerism was a little annoying

I was surprised to learn that Hammer/Oduya was the top D pairing

Later, they seemed surprised that Hammer/Oduya were playing better than Keith/ Seabrook

I was also surprised to learn that Leddy had a great playoffs

They hardly mentioned Saad's name even though he was the best player on the ice most of the game.

on the other hand

The stat graphics were great.

coaches corner was unintentionally hilarious

As for the homerism, it's basically a home call when it's a Canadian team against a US team. And I only noticed it a few times from the color guy.

What he said about Hammer and Oduya was that they were the top "shutdown" D pair. It made me think for a second. What he was saying was they are the D pair that stay home, rather than 2 and 7 trying to get into the play more.

And I don't know how it was when it started, but at this point there's nothing unintentional about Coach's Corner.

@ESPNChiHawks: Hawks assign Nordstrom to IceHogs http://t.co/pzRXxUUaYG

A little surprising.

They probably saw enough to know that he can play but he needs to mature and play more minutes. No doubt they'll try him at center some at Rock Vegas too. Hopefully the corresponding move will be Morin up followed by Brookbank down for Nordstrom maybe in a couple weeks.
