Yeah I went to add him last week when the mid-season top 50 came out. Noticed he wasn't in the system and figured he wasn't eligible. Forgot people can just create someone that isn't in the system. Kinda BS.

i did it with tyler glasnow too. if a person isn't in the database you just post something here or send a message to a person with commissioner powers, they create a dummy player who goes onto your roster until CBS brings the actual player into their database. i have no idea why they don't have every player in minor league baseball in their database.

my assumption is that any player drafted in the 2013 draft or signed after whenever we did our minor league draft (feb/mar) is ineligible to be signed, but everyone else is fair game.

so [expletive] dumb. that's ending after this season. give me a break.

but before that happens, i'm going to create a placeholder for international free agent X signed by, oh, let's say the dodgers in, eh, 2019.

I don't know...I don't think it's any better to have to patrol the list of database additions all the time in order to grab these guys as soon as CBS deigns to add them to the system.

Take Rosell Herrera as an example. He started playing in 2010, for crying out loud. He's in the process of a big breakout year this year, but CBS still hasn't added him to the database.

Nicholas Kingham was a 2010 Pirates draftee who is in AA and is still not in the database.

I'd guess that only a few guys here even know that CBS has a page where they list who has been added to the DB. Do we really want to force managers to watch that list every day to get the kind of prospect listed above? It seems to be a better process to just say that anyone who is eligible can be added rather than being at the whims of CBS.

i remember there was a placeholder shelby miller at one time. that's a first round draft pick and highly regarded player.

people should just be able to add anyone who is an eligible player owned by a major league baseball organization. at some point he'll get added to the database if he becomes significant or reaches the majors. there's no reason not to have prospects available because dopey CBS hasn't put them in their database.
