Relief Pitcher Benching

Is a closer being demoted to setup man a "benching" worthy of a mid-week drop & replacement in the leauge?

I thought pitchers could be swapped in and out whenever so long as there were no more than two relievers active.

The rule says starting pitchers Kevin. Perhaps another needed clarification.

A reliever is still a reliever whether he's closing or not. Not being a reliever he could end up pitching more and netting the same amount of points. One of my relievers isn't a closer and he does just fine.
